Not registering your XM?

Has anyone ever tried keeping XM without calling them and letting them know your the new owner of a TL? How long did it last before they shut it off?

Hmm...I think I'm confused.

My dealer explained that I don't have to do anything with XM until the 3 months are up, at which time they'll contact me. Is this not how it works?

Or are you talking about at the end of the 3 months...?

Sorta, i'm guessing all TL's have XM turned on already before they're sold. The dealer told me to call them and setup my account for my 3 months free. I havn't done so yet and am curious if it will run out ever if i never call them for my free 3 months.

Oh, hmm. As far as I know, everything should be setup for the 3 months when you buy the car. I'm assuming the dealer will notify XM of your contact info. I don't think you have anything to worry about until your trial period is over.

When your subscription runs out, every time you try to access XM your are told to call a specific number to renew your subscription. If not, The same message pops up all the time.

You or your dealer have to call XM to activate your 3-month free subscription. Don't need to provide any credit card info to XM when activating your free ride.

a few weeks

i bought my tl in nov of 03. my xm lasted about 2 weeks longer than the 3 month trial. if you like xm and plan to continue the service, don't let it expire. if you do, they will hit you up for a new customer activation fee. depending on who you speak to, the customer service reps at xm do have the power to waive this fee. i signed up for 2 additional years and they waived the fee.

I didn't call anyone . . . service ended about 90 days later.

The XM now automatically goes to channel 1, whenever I choose that band.

I picked up the car on June 19, XM ran out before sep 20 (first day I had gotten in the car in a while).

I didn't call anyone. I received one phone message about 2 weeks before it ended from XM trying to get me to sign up.
