sell your non-navi.. buy a TL with navi..

Otherwise if your budget is tight you're going to have to do the work yourself (fab, harnesses, install) & score the necessary equipment 2nd hand (fleabay, scrap yard, etc..).

How about an aftermarket solution?

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/cat_i...avigation.html

After reading the posts from the guys trying to do this with the factory units, it just seems too hard. If you can come to grips with the double DIN faceplate, you will get the nav. plus bluetooth/HFL and more features for your budget.

Do it yourself and look for parts at junkyards.. thats how I did it.. I even made a DIY.. search for it .. I have seen people do it even cheaper because they made their own wire harness.. I think the cheapest was around 700.00.. if you buy the wire harness from Martin then that is already 500.00 just for the harness.. You NEED to be patient and find some deals for parts.. took me about 4 months to get everything I think..

Buy or subscribe to the ETM from helminc.com.

It took me a while to figure it all out. Based on the time it took me, $400 is a fair amount to charge for this assembly.

Connectors were the hardest things to find for me.

I would suggest the aftermarket route as well.. Get your bezels, purchase a double din.. maybe a used d3 for around 300-400 bucks (best damn DD i've ever use btw...) and a shop to install which usually runs for around 200.. I did mine for under 900 bucks..

I have to say the after market seems like the smarter way to go. The OEM is nice but very limited compared to the may applications the after market way allows. I like the idea of just installing a touch screen in the location the Navi OEM screen goes that can plug in to a device like a netbook and have some way to hook in to the cars systems and moving non navi display lower like mentioned possible on moving non navi display lower in other posts. If I had time and motivation I would/could figure it out. Other wise I will or can wait till some one else does it and I can copy or do it a little differently on my car.

...yeah just get an aftermarket nav like pioneer or so, find one in the ballpark of about 600 to 900 and then use the rest on install money if you are not doing yourself

i dont know about this, i mean its a good idea and aftermarket parts are usually better when it comes to user functionality but then again there is alot you can with the OEM nav. first of all it looks stock and clean when installed, and then if you couple it with DOMs convertor or another video convertor you can run ANYTHING off of it such as your PSP, PC, IPOD, IPHONE, or anything else to it and display it on the screen. you have limitless possibilities, all you need is a clean looking screen for the dash. i had no navi for 4 years and did enough research and seen enough pictures to know that the OEM way is the cleanest look and you still can get the same functionality for just a little more $$

1) Get a Navi TL

2) Aftermarket (carPC)

3) PATIENTLY find everything on eBay or a junkyard and do it all yourself.

You'll need the wiring harnesses, navi computer, screen etc etc.
