No Service Message - 90,000

I have a 2004 TL with 94,500 miles. I just took it in for service because the heat shield was rattling and the brakes didn't feel right. The garage called me to say I was passed due on my 90,000 mile maintenance. The service message never came up on the car. Since buying my TL new in 2004, I have become reliant on these messages (including oil changes). All electronics seem fine on the car, except the 90,000 service never came up.

Has anyone else experienced a similar problem ?

The MID doesn't necessarily call for service based strictly on mileage. Depending on the kind of driving you're doing, it might call for things like oil changes more or less frequently. For the mechanic to say you're due for a "90,000-mile servicing" means that he's recommending his own maintenance schedule that doesn't necessarily coincide with what Acura recommends (as their recommendation is "follow the MID"). There are multiple schools of thought on this forum as to which practice is better, but if you want to search for those threads you need to go up a level to the main 3G forum because it's more of a general issue than something specific to the electronics.

You're following the MID Maintenance Minder, which is the right thing to do, as the maintenance minder replaces mileage-based services for the TL.

The owner's manual has the codes and explanations; the manual also notes that the brake fluid is on a "change every 3 years" schedule and does not come up on the Maintenance Minder.
