New navigation DVD now shipping
http://www.navigation.com/is-bin/INT...gationMenu=YES
I add it to my cart and was about to buy it but realize it wasn't $180 total, more like $207.62. What a total BS!!! But hey, I gotta use my navigation as I still have the original DVD that came with my 2005 TL.
Looks like i'm gonna pull the trigger. Should get it this week.

$207??? That's kind of crazy I think. For me, in my area, whatever disc I have in there seems pretty accurate across the board. I see no reason to update, especially not at that price.

i wouldnt waist my money on the update without first checking what the updates are...alot of the time, the updates dont apply for your area, and its not worth the cost of the disc...
the other thing you can do, is do a search on ebay for a disc, and see if you cant save a hundred bucks...i did this for my wifes car a few years back, and sold her old disc on ebay for 75 bucks...made for a good update/cost ratio...

When I travel, the 05 disc did the poop trail in many areas and doesn't reconize POS very well. I figure I drop the bomb and update my disc to resolve these and many issues. I think the price is correct if you only update every 5 years. I'm just a little upset that its $200 for a software update when you can buy a new Garmin for under $100 now.
I also just bought a Navtool + rear camera and will black market it at $200 to help cover cost of the DVD. My next project is gonna be around X-mas as I want to install a DVR to my rear view mirror and record traffic ahead of me. Getting tired or reckless driver and people hitting me to sue.

I got the 2010 3.90 DVD update for my 06 TL that came with the 3.50 DVD. I got it over the summer when it was on sale for only $150. I don't think it was worth it, but the nav is definitely faster and there were some road updates. I recommend checking the black market on here and ebay if you want to save some money. You might find someone selling the 3.80 or 3.90 DVDs for waaaay cheaper.

Yes, it's $180, but the extra money is sales tax and shipping. And if you still have your original, 2005 disc, trust me, it's time for a new disc....definitely.

I've got the original DVD in there as well (05). I just relocated and it'd be really nice to have the updated maps as right now it takes me through some winding roads.
But still at $200 I feel it's a bit overpriced considering the GPS options out there right now =/

Keep Right Except to Pass
The other thing is to consider whether there is road work in your area, and if so how much, because it may render the new disc obsolete very quickly. That's the case here in Northern Virginia due to the reconstruction of the Beltway in Virginia (which also involves rebuilding seven interchanges) and the new Intercounty Connector in Maryland. Of course, it's also a valid approach to say "I don't care about local updates because I know my way around where I live" and then to consider the new DVD based on where you plan to travel in the future.

^^^ Yes, you can still make entries "on the go". Acurazine doesn't not condone pirating of these discs.
And guys, I think that $150 is too pricey, but that's the price. We've never seen them cheaper than $150.

If the you have the navi hack in your system, will you still retain those with the updated discs?

I'll be receiving mine today (it's on the delivery truck, so unless something terrible happens).
Before I put it in, should I make note of any codes or are they all in the book? I'm not near my car right now so I can't check, but when you take out the CD (i have my 2004 one still in), and put in a new one, does anything reset?
Thanks.

Received DVD today!!!
I tried 3 personal POS fron 50-400 miles away with the old DVD and again with the new DVD. The calculation time was almost identical. I tried to kind Burger King by just typing Burger King and it did load the closest BK right near to me. When I tried to find CVS, it failed. I tried to find the hotel I attended in Gainesville and it found it. New DVD also reconized serveral new road/landmarks in Gainesville that the old 05 DVD did not.
I do recommand the DVD to anyone who had the stock 05 DVD but think again if they already upgraded the last 2 years.
If there is any request to find certain POS, let me know.

I know I'm going to sound like a total girl asking this question, but wait, I am a girl, and I don't know much about how the nav really works. I'm hoping you guys can help me out!
I have an '06 (November '05, really) TL with nav, and it came with the '05 DVD. If I want to upgrade, all I have to buy is the new DVD? Will that give me 3D instead of 2D, or is that a software upgrade too? I've read a couple of posts about "software upgrades" and I don't know if that's the same thing or not.
Also, would I also have to hack into the system to do the upgrade? I don't feel confident in doing that, since I don't know much about codes; I'm worried I'll f it all up on my own, so I'm willing to pay to go the legitimate route. Just give it to me straight what I need to do, please! Thnx!

Just installed the 2011 version on my '07 TL. My neighborhood which is close to 4 years old still doesn't show up. Also, the male/female voice option is gone. Only female voice now. Live near Raleigh, NC and I did notice that some newer major highways are listed now that weren't on my previous version.

I purchased the 3.8 Ver a few months ago for $85. shipped off Ebay, and sold my 3.5 Ver for $50. shipped also on ebay. Total cost for the upgrade, about $45. just keep looking on ebay if you don't want to spend 200.+ for the latest Ver. Type this in the search field (BM513AO) for the 04-06 3G and look for 3.6 to 3.9 versions. alot are over priced but keep looking.

If the DVD you have is working for you at this time, don't bother upgrading.

I have 06 TL and purchased last year's update. I waited until the offered it for $149+S/H and tax (June 2010). They will likey do this again in the late spring in time for summer driving. For me, this update fixed the day late savings time issue (they changed the dates when it starts and stops a few years ago).
I would update/buy more often except for cost. Would even consider some kind of lifetime subscription plan like my Garmin (up to 4 updates a year). I think even though the 4Gs are hard drive based (ie. no need to press DVDs)-even they get charged the full price for annual updates. Acura did not think this one through from a customer loyalty standpoint.

^^^ Yes, I understand the there are so many new POI's and updated information, that they couldn't do a choice of voices anymore-not enough disc room.

I never understood using anything other than the female voice because it seems to me that if you're going to have someone giving you directions that may not always be the best route such that you may ignore them, followed by that person insisting that you make a U-turn (if possible) so as to use the route you were told to follow, it has to be a female voice!

^^^....nice logic Hoo. I don't think that's what in to the disc (as it's supposed to be more soothing to listening to a female voice), but.........

Need a used DVD for 2005 TL
I bought a used 2005 TL and the DVD works, but NO audio and the clock in the NAVI and on the LCD display do not sync. Took it to the dealer - paid $ 100 for diagnostics and they tell me that the DVD in the car is not the right version [ it seems to be a Honda version and when the NAVI comes on, the logo is the HONDA logo ]. They asked me to try with the RIGHT DVD and if that does NOT work, its a problem with the DVD unit. So I am looking for the RIGHT Acura DVD for a 2005 TL. If you have updated yours to a newer version, could you pls let me have your older version. If that works, then I know its the DVD and not the unit. Also can I burn a DVD with ver 3.8 from torrentz. Will that work ? THX
