Need help pairing my iPhone 4 with 3G TL - no luck with Acura Service

I previously had my TL paired with an iPhone 3GS and recently upgraded to an iPhone and need help getting my phone paired. Can someone please provide information on how to do this properly incase there are some caveats etc?

I tried getting assistance from Acura Service but they werent able to help. I have Bluetooth enabled on my iPhone and went through the process of "phone setup" on my car and it says its searching for a bluetooth phone but never syncs up. I've tried power-cycling my phone and enabling/disabling bluetooth. It just says is discoverable and that its searching but nothing comes up.

Thanks in advance.

Is HFL listed under the Bluetooth on/off switch? If so, just tap it and enter the pass code you said during the phone pairing process and it should pair fine. I've had my iPhone 4 paired to my 06 TL and working perfectly for about a month.

Yes make sure that bluetooth is enabled on your phone General -> Bluetooth. I had no issues pairing my 4 with HFL

Apple will be issuing a firmware update soon for the iphone 4, that will address bluetooth issues.

You need to press the HFL button and say "setup". Then you will be given audible options and just follow what the car tells you to do/say.

It took me a bit longer to pair my iPhone 4 to my 04 TL than it took for my 08 RDX. I thought it was probably due to the fact that my TL is 4 years older, but I cannot definitively say that.

But yes, it did take me a little longer, but I was still able to pair it without any problems.

Having problems pairing up my Iphone4 completely to my 07 TL-S. When people call me when I have the phone paired, I don't hear the ring.

I am experiencing the same difficulty and luckily have a BFF/Brother that paired my 3Gs a wk ago b4 it was stolen 9/4/10. I Received new I-phone 4 today&again am struggling with it but last time we sat n the car and waited and thru trial and error with the "set" button he was able to say his own name loudly"Kevin"& with a great pause of 30-45 secs the voice repeated it&off we went saving contacts. If u-OR ANY1 has learned to expedite this process, please LET ME KNOW and i will do the same. i have no Owners Manual-Never hav!Thx!

if u notice when sum1 calls after the 2-3 ring ur bluetooth sld kick in and answer. i watched my bro call and although phone was set to ring&paired no IMMEDIATE connection was made;Out of haste i manually answered calls for days until traffic took my attn away from the vibrate/alert and eventually radio went off and voice was heard throgh speakers of my friend saying"hello"?-Mine is a 2008 TL though

But where do u get the phone pairing password?with my 3Gs we did not need it--will i need a number of some sort to pair my I-4?Please help! I cant drive and not benefit from the bluetooth...after 3 accidents I need BOTH HANDS ON THE WHEEL! Thx for any advice

Everyone- update your iPhones to iOS 4.1. That version was released yesterday. Solved my problems.

Thanks CJ....

I have this problem, but most of the time, if it doesn't find my iPhone4 right away, it will connect within a minute or so.

i updated to IOS4.1 but my iphone 4 still wont pair. I give the code to the car but it never asked me on the phone (and yes blutooth is turned on and I am following the instructions in the manual). I dont think it is the phone since i am able to pair with my 2008 328i no problem.

My car is an 06 has there been a firmware update for the car that might solve this problem?

Cision, did you have any luck? I have the same situation where my iPhone 4 will pair with my wife's car but it won't find the '06 TL. I would appreciate any help.

Paired my iPhone 4 the other day. I didn't have any issues pairing it, recieves calls just fine. I haven't tried dialing out from the phone itself i usually just search through the phone book from the NAV screen. I wasn't able to dial out from my 3G though.

I have an iPhone 4 aswell, I already paired it but I do not know how to get the contacts to the NAV. Anyone know how?

Also I was able to pair it just fine, be sure ur phone is in discoverable mode(Bluetooth on) and don't forget to press the HFL button before u speak any options. I was stupid talking to the computer without pressing it lol :-/

So I paired my iPhone 3GS with the TL and it worked like a charm. The company gave me an iPhone 4 and I can't get it paired. Heres what I have done or tried...

I deleted the iPhone 3GS out of the car. Then I said:

"Phone Setup"
"Pair"
Passcode "1234"
I typed in the Passcode on the phone "1234"
-Phone Found...
-Name phone option comes up and then I name it "iPhone 4"

Then the HFL shuts off and doesnt pair...makes me start all over again...

Any ideas?!

I had the exact same issue. It turns out my other cell phone was connected. I turned off that previously paired cell phone and I was then able to pair the new cell phone.
