Navtool solution to failing DVD drive?
 

Wanted to install back-up camera on my 05 Navi model that has a failing alpine drive(constantly restarts).

Will navtool not work if the dvd drive is constantly rebooting or does navtool just bypass the drive to throw in the back-up camera footage?

It'll work if it's rebooting, but if the navi hangs on a black screen, then it won't work. I've had this happen twice, and a simple car restart worked it out.

Hangs most time on the Acura Navi start-up/blacks screen 10% of time.

If it hangs on the start-up, you should be OK.

Usually I am able to switch the video output to a media player before the safety acknowledgement even pops up. If I don't hit the "OK" button then the whole screen will shut off after the alotted time, but usually will wake back up when I hit a button.

dom's tvandnav2go works even if the drive isn't reading a disk.... I'm using it for a backup cam
