Navigation Update DVD 4.64
I see via acuranavi.com that a DVD update is finally available to order and is version 4.64. I know 4.62 was out since, but was never available to order due to problems. Since 4.64 is being referred to the 2008 update do you think that means it is just what 4.62 was suppose to be? I would like to get an update, but am worried that I'd get 4.64 as the 2008 update and there will be a 2009 update shortly afterwards. Do you think this update will be good until this time next year?

Redmen,
From what I understand, they do updates every 2 years or so, so I think you'll be OK with this update.

They release updated DVD's when you buy a new Acura. 4.62 was released and then 4.63 was recently released. But these cannot be obtained via the web site. I would guess that 4.64 is going to be on the web site a good while before anything newer is released.

Someone in the RL forum said 4.63 has no bugs so I'm going to buy the 4.63 upgrade from 4.56A. I see Ebay has original discs and they are much cheaper than what Alpine wants.

You can eject the disc and see what version it says on the disc; or you can go into one of the setup screens [I forget which one sorry] and view the map database info.
04 - 06 TLs use "Orange" Nav DVDs - They are in the 3.x series; latest released last year v3.71
07 - 08 TLs use "White" Nav DVDs - They are in the 4.x series; latest released last year 4.64
The two series are not compatible with each other; a 4x will not work in a 3x unit. Updates are generally released around October of each year. To find out if it contains updates that you would find useful goto www.acuranavi.com and see what the changes are.
Edit: So if you're thinking about updating wait a few more months for the 2009 updates to come out.

I wonder if there is any difference whatsoever in the 4.63 disc and the 4.64 disc?

Here is what I have found out. I am going to buy a cheap 4.63 from Ebay to see how much better it is than 4.56A.
I was told 4.63 has a version 1.66.00. I don't see anything like this on 4.56A.

I am not giving the idea to burning disks.....
The 4.xx disks can be copied, but it must be a direct copy from one disk to another. The torrent ones will work about 10% of the time since packets are dropped, and the TL navi drive is crazy, 1 misplaced 1 or 0 in the coding and it freaks out. Your best bet is to go to the dealer for service, ask for a tsx, RL, MDX or new TL loaner with the 4.64 disk and go home and do the deed if you want it for free....

I bought my 07 TL-S about 3 weeks ago and was trying to update my Navigation disc. I found version 4.63 on Mininova. It took around a day and a half to download the whole 7.15 gb. Ordered a 20 pack of Verbatim DVD+R DL from buy.com and when the discs finally arrived I burned the ISO using Nero 8 at 2.4x.
The DVD-ROM burned fine(slow but it completed) and then took out the original dvd and inserted the copy to the DVD drive and guess what??? It worked!!!!
Once you change the disc it'll take about 4 minutes to set it up and then the navi will reset itself. I haven't used the car that much since then but I haven't had any problems so far. Good luck with your burning.
Make sure you use Verbatim dvds made in Singapore. I've heard horror stories about low quality Verbatims made in India.

One problem I have with 4.64 is when I do the "Find Nearest Gas Station" command. Sometimes it locks up. It never locks up with 4.56a so I guess there is a bug. Anyone else see it?

I just got my Acura TL-S 07 and noticed that it has quite outdated Navigation DVD 4.56. I trying searching for 4.63 (downloaded 96% and it stopped ) and 4.64 (can't find at all).
I would greatly appreciate if someone can put me in a right direction here.
Cheers!
