Navigation problem

Navigation problem

Hello, I purchased an 05 tl with nav in june 2010. As of yesterday my navigation screen just stays black. When I start the car it says downloading software and to not turn the car off. When that finishes, the screen goes black and can't be used in touch screen or other controls. My radio itself does still work. Does anyone know what the problem could be? I definately can't afford a new unit, sending it to alpine is an option. I just really would ole to know what the problem is.

I'd try a known-good DVD in the navi drive in the trunk and see what happens. Also, you can try letting it reload from the disc:

press Map/Guide, Menu, and Cancel buttons for 5 seconds
press Version (there is a slight delay before this is pressable)
press Disc Load

I tried to reload the disc, still nothing I can't get any buttons to work, I will try a new disc when I get ahold of one

I have the same issue Lefty...Ive tried about 5 different nav cds and even took the player out of the trunk and reinserted hoping it was just a loose connection..Nope.

Justnspace laid it all out for you if you choose to go that way...

Instead of doing the repair on the dvd player (which will likely just fail again) i am choosing to take a different route by using my iphone's navigation and having it send the info off my iphone to the nav screen! You might want to consider doing the same...

how is this possible. i too have been having issues with my nav. it is black and says please check you disc. i ordered a new nav disc for 99 bucks but if that doesnt solve the isse i thought abaout sending to alpine.
