I have had my 08 TL w/navi for about 18 months, prior to that I had an 06 TSX w/navi, so I am familiar with the daily use of the Acura navigation system. In the past few days, something new has started happening - while in the middle of a route (an 800+ mile round trip), the navi shut down for a few seconds, came back to the "globe" screen, then the OK Disclaimer screen - just like I was turning the car on and activating the navi system. It did this once on Friday on the trip "out" then twice more today on the trip home.

I searched the boards and found similar issues, but not quite the same as what I experienced. The car is still under warranty, but I am doubtful that the dealership will be able to duplicate the issue, as it seemed almost random in it's occurrence.

Does anyone have any thoughts/theories/insight into what may be happening with the system? The car seems to be running fine otherwise and nothing seems to have caused this (I didn't restart the car on the go, press any buttons, etc - in fact I only had my hands on the wheel and was not manipulating any other dashboard/wheel/stalk controls, even volume, when it happened)

Take it to the dealer and have them replace the navigation unit in the trunk. This is the "brain" of the navi unit. This sounds like something that would definitely piss me off.

take out the dvd and clean it, put it back in and then see what happens. The same thing happened to me when the TL was brand new, and the same with my MDX.

Thanks...I will try cleaning the disc but I will also push for a replacement of the "brain" when I go in for my next service...
