well, I'm sure the navigation on the coming 09 TL would be different, I'm guessing more of a 3D looking, different layout and more features and since the new TL use a DVD based navi rather than HD then would you believe Acura will release a DVD for the 07 and 08 TL that would be upgrade it to the 09 navi system? is that even technically possible?? Just curious!!

 

probably different hardware, as the 07-08s are different than 04-06; i'm HOPING they bring the 09 out on a next gen nav system, even the 4.x system seems kind of dated.. =/

 

wasn't there supposed to be a huge design and overall change in the TL for 09, possibly a 4th gen TL ?

 

yeah, I know and I'm sure they'll change the navi layouts, I was just wondering if they'll make it in a way that I can upgrade my TLs navi to the new 09 tl navi displays and layouts by installing somekind of a software!!!

 

I doubt it'll be compatible. I would not be surprised if the cabin/radio/navi layout change is such that the 4G version just could not fit in a 3G, at least not with MAJOR modification to the 3G.

Things like, screen size, screen location, screen veiwing angle, control button function, control button locations, etc. Any combination of those types of changes on the navi and/or radio would make it very hard to "upgrade" a 3G.

 

the acura tl from 04-06 uses the same platform as the alpine nven871a. 07 and up uses the alpine nven872a. the nven872a from alpine has an update to make it 3d so i think the 09 will probably use the nven872a

 

so may be one day acura will release an upgrade for my 07 TLs navi and make it a 3D. that would be neat!!!

 

Don't hold your breath. They need all the things they can come up with to make us buy new cars.
