Been a while since I posted and I need some help. Long story short my navigation screen has “spider web cracks” and I lost the touch screen function. I know I need to buy a new unit but I have some questions before I make the purchase, I have a 2007 tl-s, 6speed.

1. What exactly do I need to buy? (part number and price)
2. Will any 04-08 unit work?
3. Does my old navi code still work with the new unit?

you dont want to downgrade to an 04-06 navi unit.
you will loose lots of your features.
with that being said, lots of 04-06 guys upgrade to the 07-08 unit to gain those features.

No, your old navi code will not work with a new unit.

Also, head to EBAY. type in 07-08 navi unit and see what comes up.

 

Not quite:

04-06 units have different connectors than the 07-08 display units.

If you are going to go to Acura, you need the whole unit, big bucks.

YES, your navi code will work. If you are changing the navi unit, then you will get a new number with it. But the display doesn't matter.

Ebay would be your best option for a replacement or contact Martin (hondaacuratech).

the navi still works i just cant use the "touch screen".

 

it's a 4 wire touch panel. If you are electronically/mechanically handy, you can take it all apart and replace the touch panel.

 

do they just sell the screen? I'm very handy, and ill try my luck with that first. If it doesnt work then i will end up buyign the new unit.

The screen is sold, however what you need is the touch panel and not the screen. I'm not sure that you can buy a generic one and try it on since I haven't looked into it, but maybe it might be worth a shot before dropping 1+K at a dealer.

Have you tried contacting Martin @ those ebay links? He has some great pricing for the screens!

 

From what I've seen so far, the generic 4 wire touch panels are all the same.

I'm in the process of putting a mac mini in my car and will try to use the touch panel for both the carputer and the factory navi control. I found a high brightness monitor but it has a 5 wire panel. So I went to the Xenarc site and ordered a 4 wire for $40. The trick is getting the exact size.

The touch panel is just an overlay so the work is getting everything apart and back together, which isn't that difficult.

If you wait a few days, I can let you know if the 7" Xenarc is close to the stocker.

 

How in the world did you get to crack the screen? PLease share the story.

Is the 2007-2008 navi able to receive address input by voice? I have the 2005 navi which will only accept input destination addresses by touchscreen. Because I cannot operate the touchscreen (physical handicap), I'm wondering if I could have the newer navi installed to replace the one I have now.

 

Please disregard my question. I pulled up the '07 owners manual and see that voice input of destination is unavailable for the navi.

 

Bad news. I measured the opening of the navi display and it's 200mm diagonally.

That's a 7.87" screen. I've never seen a lcd or touch panel with those dimensions.

 

i have a 07-08 type-s navi screen. I was going to do the navi converson, i have an 04, but I may be buying a new car instead. I also have the hfl, the vent display and radio. I just needed the navi drive and harness.If you just want the screen email me. Maybe we can figure something out.

I'm in NJ right over the Outerbridge, you can pick it up or I can ship it. I never tested it but it looks mint. I've spoken to Martin too, he was gonna do my install with his harness.

mine broke and i picked one up on ebay for 300 and i did it myself that would be ur best bet, or u can buy just the lcd Try this...
