I know there are 100's of threads about Navi's not working but I haven't seen any with the issue I am having.. So let me explain what's going on. My Navi NEVER gets past the Earth Screen and tries rebooting every 30-45 seconds. Which will sometimes cut the radio out for about half a second. And other times the Navi just stays on a black screen, now when it does this I have sound to my speaker from whatever I am listening to i.e. radio, cd or tape. BUT I do not have any display of what I am listening to. I can't see the volume, station, disc/track but as far as the climate control display goes it's always showing no matter what the Navi/Radio are doing. As far as I'm aware when the dvd system for the Navi goes out the display for the climate control does as well? Anyone have any ideas here or am I completely wrong? Lol I'm new to TL's and Navi as well. Thanks for any help guys and sorry for making yet another Navi thread..

the navi controls the time as well.
is the time correct in the climate control area?

it sounds like you may need to take out the disk from the trunk and clean it and see what happens when you insert it back in.
if this doesnt work, your navi drive is done for.
you will either need to send it in to alpine with $356 and or source a new dvd drive unit.

The clock works and is correct.. So I'm not sure.. Where can I find the drive?

I'll get pics of both (Navi bootup and Navi Black screen) so you guys can see what's working and what isn't in both scenarios.

Never mind on where, I found a thread on that part. But I don't get why the radio display is affected but the climate control display and clock is not. I'll try removing the disc and cleaning it to see what that does. Once in a while the code screen pops up and I'll try entering it in but can usually only get the first number before the screen either freezes or tries rebooting again. I just bought the car last week so like I said I'm new to the car.

^no need for the pictures, as we've all seen or have seen the blank screen before.

you'll need to trouble shoot.
the cleaning of the disk is a start.

Well I removed the disc and it didn't seem to do anything.. When the screen is just black the back light is on, so the screen is lit there's just no image displayed. Does this sound like the DVD drive? Only thing that kinda steers me away from thinking it's the DVD drive is that the Climate control display are always on the screen up top but the radio's display is not. (only when the screen is on boot up screen) I don't get it..

Navi started working for a few minutes last night and then stopped again and stayed on boot up screen... Sound like DVD drive?
