i am having a issue with my navigation system. I've looked at the option of taking out the dvd rom and cleaning the lens but i seen that people would do this when the screen would say there is a disk error. mines doesn't even show anything, just simply a black screen. does this mean that my rom is fried? or that the navigation screen is?

no your screen prob dead ,mine was blank but worked sometimes I thought it was the rom so I cleaned the DVD drive in the back it boots up and works but only in key position 2 everything works but once the engine is turned on it freezes then go blank again smh shit blows
