Navi calculation vs. higher aspect tire

Hey everyone,

I've gotten some replies to my posts in regards to going to a 245-40-18 on 18"x8" wheels and the problems that may arise with my OEM navi and the way it calculates position.
Has anyone encountered running 245-40-18 tires and position calculation problems with OEM navi?

thanks

It's doubtful as long as you're in view of the satellites.

No one has ever answered if the navi corrects for non stock tire diameters. There is a screen that has somethign like this and the % correction was almost exaclty how much smaller than stock my tires are. I suspect it's not an issue.

Thanks for the reply..I believe your right..When I have some time..ill dig through the diagnostic mode on the Navi to see if there is subscreen to adjust.
Funny.. you would think that somebody out there must be running higher aspect tires with a OEM navi.
just saying..

I have 19" in my 07 tl- s. No problem the ecu correct it self in the tire calibration menu on diagnostic mode. You will have the option to input how mush correction you think you want or you can select manual or auto and the car adjust in a couple miles.

I hope you're right. I've been wondering about this for a long time ever since I saw that screen with the correction.

I guess the question now is what is it used for? Odometer, navi, mph, etc.
