Nav Screen Not Switching to Night Mode

I have 04 with Navi and found yesterday night that the Nav screen is not automatically switching to the night mode when it's dark outside. I checked the settings and the display is set up as 'auto' mode. When I manually set it to 'night' mode, it does change, but not any longer in 'auto' mode.

Might be a light sensor problem? Any inputs will help!

I think you must have the dash switch for the lighting on Max, if its on max it will not auto switch

There are settings in the navi option menu that can dictate how the screen appears during the day and night. Find that and make sure it is set to "auto". if it is set as "day", then it will never dim.

The brightness button on your dash is set to max.. You need to hit(-) to turn it down.

That must be it! We had a lot of rain recently and I remember setting the brightness to the max. I will try this and hope this takes care of this issue. Thanks guys!

Thanks. Since this anomaly is still the case in 2019 models, it's difficult to understand why no one in my local Acura service department knows this - finally returning the car to me with no explanation or fix. This is a flaw in the interaction between systems, folks - plain and simple. There's no way the dash brightness setting should override Navigation's "Auto" display setting), Glad to have found this forum...

This is the case for my 2012 TL. I freaked out and thought maybe my sensor was bad or the computer module had an issue, but was relieved once I turned down the dash light brightness and the screen switched to night mode.
