If you have an 07 - 08 DVD drive, you can wire it there. If not, you have to buy the Nav-2-Go unit. I bought my harness from Martin. You can see it in my last post. Let me know if you need his contact information.

^^ That explains why you have to wait for the navi to come up before the camera will work. I didn't realize you had the 07 and up. The nav2go overrides the system so no need to wait. Did you get the wave thing on the screen worked out?

No, I didn't test it because it wouldn't make a difference anyway. I'm not going to get another DVD drive and it's not that bad anyway. I drove the car last night and the only thing I could see was that it was a little grainy. I didn't notice any waves. I'm hoping the graininess was from the lack of light. So maybe it was because the car wasn't running. I could still see very well even in the dark.

No matter what i do, I can not get it to angle down enough to see the bumper, while also showing a decent backwards view. The way I have it right now. I see the whole edge of the bumped on the bottom of the screen but only see like 5-6 feet behind the car at the most.
Can you take a closeup picture of the mounting from the side so I can see where it is in relation to the license plate?

I think I know what the problem is.;...The rings that came in different shapes and sizes to make the angle you need. Look at how my ring is in front of the bracket and then the one behind it. It angles the camera out so you see more towards the rear. I also trimmed a lot off the car to make this fit..
Look at the rings forward and aft of the backet:
Here are some more pictures showing you the angle and the trimming that needed to be done around it to make it fit.

Great additional pictures. Yeah, it seems at least part of the problem is where in the "stack" i put the ring that the camera mounts too. With these pictures I should be able to get it right this weekend.
Thanks

Has anyone placed their camera INSIDE the car? Like on the rear deck or top of the rear windshield? I'm wondering what kind of view this would give. Since the 3G TL has such a phat ass, I think it may not show low objects close to the bumper (the odd kids toy/tricycle in the driveway). On the other hand, no more worries about dirt, water spots or theft if it is inside. Anyone have experience on this?

Brian your welcome!
Putting the camera on the rear deck will give you nothing more than what you are seeing out your back window. What would be the purpose of that? Mount it where we have and be safe, each and every time you back up.

I am about to tackle this mod and I ave one question. I know you have to tap the power for the nav 2 go from the fuse box but where do you get the power for the camer from. Do you use the same wore from the fuse box or something closer to the camera?

The Nav2go has the power coming out of the unit sending the power to the camera. I believe it is the blue/white wire. When you put the car in reverse, the nav2go turns the power on to the camera and it comes on. You need to wire the nav2go to the positive wire off of one of your reverse lights in order for this to work.

I have both cameras for sale if anyone is interested, although it would surely be cheaper to buy the Boyo from Amazon with free shipping.

I have the Boyo VTL120 license plate camera and it is far superior to Wendy's camera. Its balck and its not easily noticable that its a camera plate and I love it:

I see where you guys placed the camera but on my car there is a small bracket in that area. Did you guys remove that part when installing? And did you have to go through the back of the trunk to access this area? Lastly how long does it take to do?

Yeah, I had to remove a lot of the center support. I'm not entirely sure if you have to completely remove that support and screw. I removed it and my trim was loose. I ended up securing it elsewhere so that it wasn't loose when lifting the trunk. I secured it by drilling a really small hole into both plastic pieces. Then I screwed a really small screw in and JB welded it everywhere.

I just bought one as well. But I had to pay 48 plus 5 to ship. Ebay and Amazon both had them at the same price, give or take a few dollars. My limit was $75 so the price is ok with me! Cant wait to install this next weekend (or I should say, pay my local audio/video experts to install next weekend......)
