Moving MP3 and power sockets

I've been thinking about moving the MP3 and power sockets out of the center console storage bin on my 08 TL and mounting them on the right-hand side of the forward part of the console. I usually don't use them but my wife wanted to plug in her Ipod on our last trip to Duchess County, NY, a 2 1/2 hour drive. It was a bit of a pain plugging the two cables into the jacks and running them out of the console bin. The lid wouldn't latch. Has anyone done this? As I read the service manual, I can remove the center console to get at the wiring. I think I can then drill new mounting holes on the right-hand side (face side) of the forward, slanted part of the console and mount the receptacles there. I can put blank plugs into the old holes in the console storage bin and re-assemble the console. Any thoughts? Hy

Isn't there a small space toward the front of the console that allow cables to pass through?

There is a Space in the Console to pass the cable up and out of the console put using two cables thru there may be a pain especially if the cables are shaped like a Spring. I had this issue with my Old android Charger when I tried passing both the Line input wire and Charger through there. I now have an iPhone so the new charger cable is straight and don't have this problem anymore.

One of the cables is the coiled kind; fights me all the way. The receptacles themselves are a pain to reach to plug in the cables. It required holding them at an awkward angle. Our son's Rav4 has the two receptacles right up on the console near the dashboard. That's where I got the idea to move them. I just don't know how much actual open area there is under the console cover. I was hoping somebody else might have had the console off and would know if there's enough space there for the receptacles. P.S. I had tried to latch the console lid with the cables in the groove. I was able to force it closed by slamming it; not good for the cables or the lid. Hy
