Motorola Droid and 05 TL

Good afternoon!!

Has anyone paired and used a Motorola Droid from Verizon in an 05 TL Handsfreelink?

I was thinking of getting one, but i dont want to make the handsfreelink in the car worthless. I have searched and found someone have it work in an 05 TSX and 08 RDX.. but nothing about an 05 TL.

Thanks in advance for any insight...

Let's assume the Droid is similar to the other Android phones out there....so yes it should work. I have used a G1 and a myTouch in my '05 and they work....just not the smoothest. My BlackBerry works better on the HFL. No clue if 2.0 brought any improvements over 1.6 though.

may i ask what you mean by "not the smoothest"? is that like switching back and forth between the handset and car is a pain, or doesnt work all the time?

i agree with you.. my BB and EnV3 work great in my 05.. i just dont know why it takes them so long to test new phones. i mean... i can tell you in 5 minutes what works and what doesnt... but oh well.

Thanks for the reply.

I've got the Motor Droid and a 2008 TL (Using it to type this, actually)... Verizon/Motor screwed up the Bluetooth app that sends contacts... but some leaked VZW docs say a fix will be out either Dec 11 or Jan 11... hopefully they fix it... I'll do some testing on the other HFL features and let you know... its a pretty slick phome

When I say not the smoothest...well here is my best description:

1.) When trying to switch a call from the handset to the phone, it is a PITA. The phone automagically goes to BlueTooth, but the HFL hasn't picked up on the call yet. I have to manually take the phone off of BT to Speaker, then use the HFL to "transfer" the call back. Now if I initiated the call on the BT, then all is smooth.

2.) When answering or disconnecting a call on the BT, there is a couple second delay from when I hit the buttons on the steering wheel from when the BT responds.

I had none of these issues with my K1m nor with my BB 8703e. Like I said, it is usable still...just not as smooth.

Motorola Droid and 2005 TL

I have the Moto Droid. It paired with my 2005 Navi TL on the first try.
I like the fact then when making a call, there is a bluetooth button on the phone and I no longer have to issue the "transfer" command. I can just press a button

The phone pairs without issues, and the sound quality is good through it.

However, it is currently impossible to send the phonebook to the car. This is a known Droid issue... The leaked docs say a fix will be out in the Jan OTA update (the Dec one will be fixing some other issues)

For those having problems with the '05 TL I found clearing everything out of the HFL (System -> Clear) allowed me to pair my Droid.

Whenever I stepped through the pairing it would get to the last step, naming your phone, and it would disconnect and not pair. The name of the phone would get stored but the pairing wasn't complete. I previously had a couple of phones paired but unsure what was preventing the Droid from completing the process.

Hope this helps

On my '04 TL it paired fine. The OTA update I got about a week okay made things even better (normal) with no issues.

I have the droid paired with my '05 and I have gotten the "am I on speaker?... you sound so clear now" from many of my friends.

I love my droid... hopefully 2.1 will officially be released for it soon.

McLardAss: I had that same problem pairing my Droid with my 05TL. After some determination, I finally got it to pair. It works well now. I also like how you can easily switch between Bluetooth and Phone with a simple button on the Droid screen.

MURALI: Are you saying that there is a way to transfer your phone book to the car??? I didn't know this was even possible...

When I bought my '05 TL w/o Nav I first cleared out the HFL (seeing as I bought it from a friend, and she may be riding in my car). I then paired without any problems at all. It works perfect, and sounds better than some very new BT stereos I have in stalled in my other cars. Get the Droid. It is the best phone I have ever had from Verizon! I have a friend that works for them, so I try out many before I settle...

I also paired my Droid to my 07 Type-S and I had no problems. The clarity is far superior from my previous bluetooth headset. I am having problems though transfering my phone book, so if anyone has done it (droid to car) please post the solution. Its driving me crazy not been able to just say "Call xxxxxx")

Droid + '07 here. Works fine. The phonebook won't transfer because there's a bug in the droid. There's an update coming in December or January. Oh, wait, it's Feb already. Guess it's delayed

Of course, we're also supposed to get a full OS upgrade at the same time the HTC guys get upgraded from Android 1. That was supposed to come Jan 22, and hasn't yet.

I paired my Motorola Droid with my 2007 TL-S just fine, but the phonebook did not transfer either. As a side note, I also have a 2008 Ford Fusion for work and the Driod paired and the phonebook worked great. My Nextel phonebook paired with the Fusion as well. Are you sure it is a Droid issue? My Nextel phonebook would not transfer to my TL either.

The audio quality is much better on the TL for both phones.

Hello Guys,

i figured i post this here as well; that way others can benefit from it as well.

on your Droid, touch the menu key, then go to settings, Select Wireless & networks. make sure Bluetooth has a check mark; select Bluetooth Settings.

put a check mark next to Discoverable. the phone is going to be discoverable for 120secs; so now you have to do the settings on the car so that it can look for devices to pair; remember you only have 120secs, so try to be quick.

click on the voice command button and say "phone set up" the car is going to say something like "phone set up options are: bla bla bla, then say "pair" follow the prompt. once the car gives you confirmation that it's searching for divices; go back to the droid and select Scan for devices. i'm not sure why but you have to tell your phone to look for devices also;

once the phone finds the car HandsFreeLink TM, you should see that option in your phone, under Bluetooth Devices. let me know if this doesn't work; i can always double check to make sure.

Oh, by the way, you can transfer your contact list to the car; once you have pair your phone. but be advise that some devices do not support data transfer via bluetooth; so those will not work. the Motorola Droid does work.

If that doesn't work, have your droid actively search for bluetooth devices. On my '07, the car couldn't find the droid, but if they were both looking, they found each other fine.

yes, i agree with shadowkahn, actually, on the Droid, this is the only way it will work. if you have the car only searching it wont find it; but if you have the droid searching also; it will find it right away.

A little off topic but....

When I paired my phone with my 07 TL-S, there was some other option to connect with Acura servers or something but it failed.
Whats that about? The HFL works fine... I use it all the time but I can't imagine what that uplink thing would do.

and btw... I think I remember Aziners complaining about thier contacts not being uploadable for 04 - 06 TLs.
Kinda like the MP3 thing.

That's the Acuralink. It can send info on your car's performance and trouble codes to Acura's servers, which can then send you alerts about it. They can also send messages to your car - recalls and stuff like that.

It doesn't work, period, on any Verizon phone that I'm aware of. The best we can determine is that Verizon is blocking the car's data for some reason.

So, where does the droid "fix" stand in regards to transferring the phonebook? Does anyone know if it's been fixed yet or are we still waiting on Verizon?

I just found the fix for this. You have to permit the transfer on the Droid.

After pressing "import phonebook" in the car, the Droid will prompt you to allow the transfer. Before transferring, I pulled down the Droid's top bar where the time and 3G symbols are to make the popup more visible. Once import is pressed a notification pops up on the Droid and you have to press allow.

I read about this here: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/tec...acura-mdx.html

Here's a question for anyone out there that may have experienced the same...
I have an '04 TL w/Navi and a Samsung Moment from Sprint running Android 2.1. Before upgrading my Moment from 1.5 to 2.1, phone and HFL worked great. Since upgrade, here is what I'm dealing with and hope to find a fix for...

Attempting to answer a call using the handset (not the steeringwheel) automatically activates HFL, sometimes successfully and sometimes sound/mic are in limbo between devices. I used to be able to answer the handset without the HFL activating... Sometimes you don't want others in the car to hear your conversation...

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Any fixes??

Thanks
Sam

Exclamation My 05 TL non navi dorid pairing issues. HELP!!!!

Ok I am having problems Pairing my Moto Droid with my Non Navi 05 TL. I have paired plenty of Blackberrys before without an issue.

Problem with Droid is: It will pair but it won't finish the full set up process, therefor it won't stay connected.
Once it is paired it prompts me to give it a name, for some reason after I name it, the set up just stops and cuts out. It doesn't repeat it back to me like it should and finish out. So the phone will say paired but not connected.

I have gone through this 3 times tonight. Any ideas?
