The owner's manual says that a metallized tint film on the back window may hinder GPS reception. Has anyone had a problem with GPS reception after installing a high-quality metallized tint?

I have had a 2004 and now have a 2007 TL-S. Both cars had metallized tint and GPS. Neither had one problem at all. Go for it!

Most good shops wont install it- they know the potential problems they would be liable for

I've got metallic tint on my TL-S - 35% all around - no Navi problems what so ever; no radio (AM, FM, XM) reception problems either.

the GPS antenna is located in the back of the car on the self. the metals in the tint may interfere with the signal and the navi may give you the wrong directions if data is incorrect/lost due to the metallic tint.

I put 30% Llumar ATR (metal based tint) into my 2005 TL and have no probs with the Navi. I did notice a reduction in the AM stations that it would receive but I don't listen to radio.

My installer said he'd replace it if I had probs. He installed it on a lot of TLs and never had one complain.

I have only heard warnings from tint shops and people who haven't tried it. So far everyone who has actually tried it apparently has no problems. Is there anyone out there with metallic tint on a TL have any problems ever to speak of??

I looked around before I installed tint on my 07 TL type S, I choose the 3M carbonized tint. Non-metal. life time warranty. Works great and actually keeps the interior from getting HOT. I live in SE Georgia, does get HOT here. The only installers were 7 hours away, in south Fla. Made a weekend of it and.... less then $200 @ Tint World. Good luck, Ron

Thanks for all the good info...sounds like I shouldn't be worried about a drop in signal strength.
