So I recently got another (better looking / higher quality) custom keyfob for my 06 TL (pics below), thinking I could use it along with my current (but worn) 07-08 switchblade-style fob and 3 other original fobs (the ones originally offered with the car) I had laying around. After taking them to the locksmith to ensure they could all be paired with the car, I was told that a maximum of 2 fobs could be paired with the car.

The explanation was that only one could be paired for Memory 1, and the other for Memory 2. This seems to make sense, but is it not possible to pair additional remotes to Memory 1 or 2? If not, could they be paired without specifying either of the memory settings? A little bummed out since I was hoping to end up with 5 working fobs...not that I need that many, but there was some satisfaction with knowing none of them would goto waste.

It's completely plausible that only my switchblade and one of the other fobs were actually paired to the car before (while the other 2 never worked since they came from a previous totalled 3G), but I've had them all for so long since that I can't remember anymore. Tried searching for existing threads about this but only saw one for the 3G RDX.

I think it's a max of 4 keys immobilizer and 3 key fobs to unlock doors

Interesting, just saw the 3G garage thread that says only 3 fobs (and therefore 3 immobilizers?) can be paired? Dunno why the locksmith said that when he tried to program the 3rd key, one of the two previously paired keys would no longer work

Immobilizer is built into the key itself and not the fob portion so you can have a valet key and 3 fobs & Keys.
