LCD TV used as a computer monitor. lcd fades to a white screen
I don't know if this is the appropriate section, but I'll throw it out anyway.
So i picked up an lcd tv to use as a secondary computer monitor. It has the VGA, s-video, composite connectors, HDMI and all the other usuals. In this scenario I'm using a straight M/M VGA to VGA cable.
I turn the tv on and initially the image is very clear and contrast is perfect. As time goes on, the screen gradually turns white. I think it takes about 1 full minute to look like a CRT with direct sunlight on it.
The first thing I thought was this radioshack cable sucks. the second I thought was my OLD agp 32mb video card, which has treated me well the past 6 years running Half-life and various other games. The TV works fine thru an analog cable connection. I was already in the market for a new video card, but I want to try and find out what's causing this fading. Any help would be appreciated.

prob should be moved to teh comp forum but what make/model of tv?
my 37 LCD TV (vizio) also uses a m-m VGA cable and depending on what you are viewing it adjusts the brightness. for instance, when i minimze to just view the desktop it gets dimmer but when i open firefox (or maximize the always open azine window ) it brightens. this is normal behavior but i guess will vary across make/models

I use a DVI cable from my video card to the LCD (32" LCD @ 1368 x 768 resolution) Works just fine. You're definitely going to have to upgrade your video card imo. A 32MB Video Card powering 2 monitors
The change in brightness can be fixed using the video card settings Desktop/3D Program Setting (Gamma, Brightness, Contrast, etc.)
Hope helps
