Just want to be clear about by-passing amp

Greetings,

I am finally going to bypass my factory amp with the harness, when I do this, should I leave the factory amp on or should I disconnect the power suppy and remote turn on?

I guess what I am asking is, is it beneficial/prefered to keep the amp installed and on?

Does anyone have the preamp pin out?

Thanks

do you have navi? Do you use your HFL a lot? If you want to tap after the factory amp, you will most likely need a line driver as the voltage will be too low. Search for bypassing the factory amp and you should get a few good results.

I do have navi, but I rarely use the navi voice. I actually never use HFL, but I have found that the HFL works fine after by passing the factory amp from other posts. I currently am using a Audio control unit after the factory amp, but am changing processors and want to try pre amp.

If you are going to provide 5.1 channels of amplification then there is no need to keep the factory amp. The HFL and the nav voice are output over the standard HU outputs.

so you are saying that if I am going to install a MS8 that does 5.1 off a two channel input, I dont need the amp?

Should I leave the amp in and on for any electrical system purposes?

If you only use the front left and right channels you will lose your nav voice prompts; HFL should be OK.
