Car - 05 navi TL.
I had the iSimple installed ye about 3 yrs ago and worked like charm till I got a iPhone. First the bluetooth won't recognize the incoming call number and display it on the dash like it used to with my Blackberry, but bluetooth does work.

Anyhow my main concern is that, just recently so my steering wheel control to change the track stopped working. I think it probably has to with some iOS update that may have happened, because I have not mucked around with the xm/aux2/... settings at all in the car. My iPhone was working fine ever since I got it till now and always has been plugged in on Aux2. It is very irritating not to be able to change the songs from the steering wheel !

Anybody had this problem? I am not sure if it is worth trying to upgrade the firmware on the iSimple (I would have to go to BB to have it first removed, pay them, upgrade and pay them again to put it back in). Any pointers appreciated.

I once had a problem something like yours and called their customer service line (866-931-8021). They described the reset procedure which was to short out the main capacitor and then repower the unit; basically a simple power cycle/reboot but there is no power switch to turn off.

Give them a call; they were friendly.

I never did figure out what the real problem was but it works now.

Waveform - thanks for pointing out that I call them. I did and they mentioned that can send me an updated unit for 30 bucks as long as I return the old one. It is this one that they recommend - http://isimplesolutions.com/product.aspx?zpid=394

I am not sure if this will work for our model, most of the reviews I see on there are for mazda's. Anybody have this unit? Thanks.

This is the unit that is installed in my TL, your TL also has navi so you may have the same unit. I think the ISHD571 unit ($189.00) is more capable than the Translt IS71 ($89.00) that has been suggested as an "upgrade".

I don't have an iphone but my ipod is recognized by my isimple as "ipod" not aux2, so yours may be configured differently.

Anyway, I suggest that you call again and ask to speak with the technical department to see if they can offer a repair solution; or go back to your installer. With any luck the problem could be as minor as a loose cable.
