Ipod Holder...Kuda
has anyone bought this...i am in desperate need of somesort of IPOD holder because i hate keeping it in the center console or where the 12volt thing is near the shifter...so i found this kuda cell phone/pda/ipod holder....its black leather so it will match the leather in the car....i know that the color won't be the same EXACTLY but its still leather....the picture is really bad, but its 50 bucks and i don't exactly just want to....WASTE the money if i don't like it...its custom to fit right over the center console but im debating whether to get it or not...i was wondering if anyone actually bought this...and if they have pics or can recommend a better method of proping the IPOD in a clean way.....
thanks

i was a bit confused with things.....it says on their site and on ebay auctions that you have to buy the IPOD mount seperately...did you just buy the mount and then buy the ipod accessory? i just wanna get it right because i really don't feel like shipping things back to Germany....

I just got back from Orlando and found that my Kuda package came. I dry-fit it in the TL and it looks like a quality product. I'll mount it later today if I get a chance and report back.

Overall, the Kuda setup works out nicely. I tucked the tape cassette adapter wires in behind the Kuda. I need to trim the bottom black plastic prongs of the holder so the power charger fits nicely. Then I need to run the power cord under the center console and into the bin where the power outlet is. The brake handle may seem kind of close, but it doesn't affect operation.

awesome. thanks for posting pics.
looks like you had to drill a hole to mount that. what's required to mount that?
i was thinking about getting that for my pda, so i can use it as navi... looks like it wouldn't be a bad set up. can you turn the top part towards the driver? how long did the delivery take?

The holder is angled towards the driver a bit and is fine for seeing and operating the ipod. It isn't adjustable, unless you want to adjust the position of your pda in the clamps.
Delivery was only 2 days from when I placed my order. I actually ordered three setups; one for the TL, one for a CRV and one for a Civic Si. I traded emails with Kuda for a while about the Si setup since they didn't show one on their website. However, I noted that they had an European Civic holder and told them that I thought it would fit the US Si. Kuda shipped several from Europe overnight so that I could have one and they could have several others in stock. I dealt with Estera and Dirk at Kuda throughout the process. Great people and they were answering my emails on a Saturday and Sunday.

I also covered the metal tab that inserts between the aluminum trim and the black plastic of the center console with clear packing tape before trying to insert it. It is a tight fit though.

You need to buy the Telephone Console for the '04 Acura TL (price varies according to color), and the universal phone holder ($9.99).
I'm about the buy a 30 GB photo iPod, and this looks like the ideal holder.

My only suggestion is to put the cell/iPod/PDA holder on while sitting in the driver's seat, I did mine from the passenger side after finishing the install and it is too far over. I might have to call Kuda for another piece of double-sided tape.
Thanks to all that suggested this holder!!

Is it necessary to use the double-sided tape? I'd rather just clip it to the console so there are no ill-effects if I decide to remove it. Would have to use double-sided tape or scratch the console with screws, etc. Anyone know if it will hold on well enough just by clipping it on, and is it impossible to clip it on without scratching the aluminum?

The sound is much better than from connecting the cassette adapter to the audio jack on the top of the ipod.
I highly recommend this thing.
I'd post some pictures but I can't figure out how to insert them into the message. The "insert image" button just asks for a "script prompt" and I don't know what that means.

It must be amplified differently through the headphone jack versus the ipod connector. The ipod volume touch-ring and DSP settings have no effect on the ipod connector.

The item shown at http://store.yahoo.com/semsons-inc/ipligsocmoun.html is specific for the ipod.

Also it should sound better because true line out from the Ipod sounds better than the amplified headphone out.

The only thing I don't like about this setup is you have to leave that compartment door open, which looks really tacky in my opinion. Guess I'm just a bit on the anal side.. lol

Yeah. That sort of bugs me too. But I'm willing to sacrifice that for the convenience of being able to drop the ipod into the cradle, press play and that's it. Easy access to the ipod while driving also. Display is right there, as are the controls.
It keeps the ipod charged also.

True.. for the price I may try it myself. I can always close that door and pull it out when I'm not using it, I suppose -- and the sound quality is that much better?
