Interior LED's (yes, again)

I know this is a topic that has been discussed countless times before, BUT, I need some help from people with experience. I have found many threads on this subject, but since the majority of them are soo old, none of the links work anymore . I'm looking to switch out all of my interior lights (front dome, rear dome, door/puddle lights, trunk light) as well as my license plate lights with pure white LED's. I know that the interior lights are a model 194 wedge LED. The issue is that there are SOO many different kinds of 194 wedges! Idk what to will even fit in the housings! They range widely in size, as well as the number of LED's that are on the "bulb".

I've read that a lot of people love the 6 LED panels, but in all honesty, I don't want something THAT bright. Something slightly brighter than stock, with that pure white color is my goal here. The only place I wouldn't mind REALLY bright lights is the license plate illumination. That, I can deal with.

If it helps, I'm currently looking to order from autolumination, since I have checked V-LEDS the past 3 days or so and they are out of stock for about 90% of the 194 LEDS

Any help would be much appreciated! I know I'm beating a dead horse here, but LED technology changes soo rapidly! Want to get this mod done!

purchased mine LEDs off ebay

http://www.ebay.com/itm/10pcs-German-Quality-194-Wedge-Bulbs-192-168-194-W5W-2825-158-USA-/261155764314?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cce18b85a
Bought a few different AGT products and they work pretty good. AGT HID kit is two years old and still working great.

the 5 LED wedges aren't too bright? The LEDS that you provided the link for are WAYY less expensive than what I have been looking at so far. Do you happen to have any pics of them installed?

If not, I guess at that price I can afford some "trial and error" hahaha

The 5 Led SMT Tower 194 168 W5W 2825 bulbs are what I found on autolumination. I THINK they are equivalent to the bulbs you are suggesting (but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong!)

http://autolumination.com/194.htm (they are the 4th option down on the page)

Did you use the same bulbs for your license plate lighting as well?

Very nice! I hear really good things about the quality of V-LED's.

The LED's posted above look comprable, but I wonder what makes for the price difference.

Scratch that, I think I figured it out. It seems as though the DDMtuning LED's are sold individually and the V-LED's are sold as PAIRS. That would make the price difference minimal.

Yeah exactly. But I think I'm going to buy the 5000k for the interior and blue for the door lights. Same bulbs from vled 4.99 for pair. Not bad price and I think 5smd led will be bright enough. I'm not trying to go blind haha

Another question. Did you paint your rims devour? Look nice on the white TL. I have the anthracite gray so idk how that would look without tints

That's exactly how I feel hahah. I don't want the brightest lights out there, just something clean looking.

The rims are actually plasti dipped! I plan on getting a nice set of lightweight aftermarket rims eventually, but for now the dipped stock rims are fine with me. My car has tints now as well and smoked side markers, I have just been slacking on posting some up-to-date pics of her

I think that black rims are almost always a safe bet! They would look cool on your color, IMO!

Nice yeah they sweet and with tints even better white n black. And I wanna plastic dip mine but idk I have the 05 TL so it's the 5 spoke plane rims. I might try the paint that can peel off too see if I like it then plastic dip them

And I just bought those vleds so when I get them and install them I can post some pics up.

Does anyone know if these LEDs will work for the license plate lighting?
http://www.vleds.com/bulb-type/minia...25-1-pair.html

I've also read that in order for the license plate LED's to last, they need to have a heat sink (since those particular lights are on for extended periods of time). Can anyone talk a little more about this?

These are the LED's that I have on my 3g TL:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/111005037327...84.m1439.l2649

This is how they look

Sorry about the grainy pics, obviously iPhone's dont do very good in low light situations. These LED's have been on my TL for about 4 months now with no issues. I had bought some other more expensive LED's with heatsinks for the license plate, but I guess they were so cheaply made (yet more expensive than the ones posted above) that the led/heatsink slid off of the plastic wedge that goes to the socket. One started flickering after about two weeks. I replaced both with the 20 SMD LED bulbs and they have held up pretty good so far in comparison to the other ones.

The ones that I initially bought with heat sinks looked like this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2X-WHITE-T10-T15-921-912-W5W-158-161-168-CREE-R5-7W-LED-REVERSE-BACK-UP-LIGHTS-/200855136258?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2ec3e62802&vxp=mtr

I hope this helps...

07NHBlkTL, those look great! Thanks for the info! Glad they are working out for you.

That price is hard to beat, as well. I ended up ordering from V-LED's. Waiting to see how they turn out =)

I got mine today as well! haha. Haven't had a chance to install them yet though, will get to it tomorrow since I have the day off!

I ordered the same ones you link'd, with the exception of the license plate lights. I ordered a pair of the flank style 4smd LEDs for the license plate. I hope they work out!

This is the kind I got http://www.vleds.com/bulb-type/minia...25-1-pair.html

Yeah I didn't get th license plate yet but I will. And the interior 5smd led is perfect. I think anything more is toooo much. I just saw them at night and they look mad good. And for that price from vled nothing can compare. You'll love it man good choice. Idk how to put pics straight from iPhone. Anyone know how?

Also if any of them don't light...check the little metal wire. Just bend it out a little bit so there is more contact then put them back in and it should work

The 5 SMD eBay wedges are more than adequate. I've been tinkering with LEDs in my cars for the last 6-7 years so I like to try new things and went to the circuit board style. Very bright but you get used to it so it's not overbearing.

There was a thread a while back on the the subject, but one bulb that seems to be of very good quality is the Osram LEDriving LED's. They make a 194 wedge bulb that works pretty much throughout the TL. Pretty nice color, a little bright for my liking, but I toned mine down just a tad with a piece of masking tape over the end of the lens. They are pricey, but seem to be of great quality. They are even available at some Autozone stores located in nice areas.

I'm believe the sylvania bulb your talking about is not an SMT LED. SMT LEDs are surface mounted and better quality. They are much smaller and work with low voltage and give off less heat and last longer. I believe the sylvania bulb lasts 6000 hours? the smd led is said tp last 50,000 hours. They are overall better than normal led bulbs. The circuit board led lights are far too bright IMO. I'm using the 5 smd led from vleds and I think they are perfect. Brighter than the stock but not so much that if you look at light it will blind you, also 5k pure white great quality. I highly recommend the vleds smd LEDs.

Those look great, dude! Installed mine today and VERY happy with the outcome =) The flank style LED's I got for the license plate fit PERFECT (I was worried since they are slightly larger than the LED's used for the dome light and such). I figured that for $6 I could take the risk, and it payed off

The benefit of the flank style on the license plate is that even though they are only 4 smd, they all face downward (since the license plate lights are mounted almost parallel to the ground). Will post pics very soon!

Yeah man I wanna see how they turned out. You have enough light on it? And let me know if they get too hot. Like drive around then when you get outta car feel the cover.

Here are some pics after the install! The LED's look a little more blue/light green tinted in the photos. In person they are very pure white. Very happy with the outcome =)

Looks nice man the license plate lights are nice and bright. Was it difficult to change that and do they overheat at all?

I just tried the 5led for. Interior for license plate and they looked good but the size was 27mm. It was close to touching the lens. The flank ones you bought for license plate are 28.5mm. Are they touching the glass cause I'm thinking of getting those same ones but I want to make sure first

So far, I'd say they run about the same (if not less) heat than the stock bulbs. The flank style LED's fit perfectly, they still clear the lenses.

They are probably a little brighter than the 5smd LED's since all of the LED's actually face downward towards the license plate and ground.

Also do you know any real bright LEDs for the trunk light? I actually use my trunk a lot so those would be great

Idk off of the top of my head, but I was thinking about the same thing. Because even with the 5smd LED's, the trunk area isn't very well lit. I'm willing to bet that you could utilize the flank style LED that I put in the license plate lighting in there though, and that would probably be much much brighter!

I can take one of my license plate lights out sometime this week and test fit it.

If you guys are looking for something to illuminate the trunk than forget the idea of those flank style or 360 style LEDs.

You need to get these LED boards. They are 5k pure white with no blue.

These - http://www.ebay.com/itm/12-5050-SMD-LED-Dome-Light-Bulb-T10-BA9S-Festoon-White-/120905991584?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c268f05a0
or These for brighter - http://www.ebay.com/itm/18-5050-SMD-LED-Dome-Light-Bulb-T10-BA9S-Festoon-White-/110719612260?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item19c7673564
I currently have a 30 LED board of the same kind in my trunk and it's over kill. If I could do it all over again I would trade for a 18 LED board.

I have 12 LED board for my interior front lights, rear lights, and front doors.

I would get the circuit board from vled if the 4smd led from license plate isn't enough. The vled circuit boards are lil more expensive but I would stick to them. And I had trouble getting the bulb out from the trunk. I tried pulling it but it wouldn't budge cause of the gold bracket around it. How did you get it out?

The gold bracket didn't affect mine. I just used a pair of needle nose pliers (very carefully, so I didn't crush the bulb) and pulled. It popped right out.

Can you provide me a link to what you guys ordered for the interior from VLEDS? I think im going to order from there or superbrightleds.com but I'm just trying to make sure I get the right things the first time and bulbs I wont be changing over and over.
