No problem! Good luck!

I jsut went on acuraoemparts and I believe this is the correct part #: 84601-SEP-A11ZA

However in the pic, it does not look like the navi trunk liner. When you order tha tpart, I would suggest asking them to confirm if that is the correct part number. Here is a link to where I found it:

bro quick question. when you got to the PCM, did you just tap the wires or did you remove the old wire and inserted the new one?

you know not trying to offend you but, you should of gotten an 07 or 08 screen because the interface it a lot nicer looking and the update disc's are cheaper. But I am guessing that the navi's are hard to come by.

It's hard enough trying to find parts.... if you get one or the other you gotta stick with that set.

i bought an 04/06 screen. for 200 bucks... in Canada... it's hard enough getting parts up here.

It's hard enough to get parts down in the US too it's just 10x harder in Canada.

No problem man! Probably the coolest and most fun mod I have ever done to any car. It also opens alot of doors to other mods, like reverse camera and navtool, and nav hacking.

Just post any questions you have in this thread so, if I am not on here to answer right away, someone else can answer the question for you.

The only part number I got wrong was the trunk liner. Here is the correct part number: 84601-SEP-A11ZA

04 to 07 Connector problem!!!!

I have an 04 w/o Nav and I want to Install the 07 nav sys w/XM.
I bought the Nav harness on ebay but the seller does not make the plug conversion for the radio. I'm talking of the old 26P connector now I have an 40P.

And how did you manage to convert the old antenna plug for a 2P connector

I would like to put pics so it could help but I don't know how......

My advice to you is to buy the 07-08 radio because it allows you to have the AUX (line-in) feature. The best way (in my opinion the only way) to do this conversion is to buy all 07-08 parts. This will assure you have the most up to date hardware in your 3G TL. If you have ANY questions regarding this long process, don't hesitate to ask them. Many people including myself and the OP have completed this conversion. With patience and guidance, it will happen for you too.

That's what I did, I already have the Display, the Radio, and the Nav unit from an 07 Type S. I'm still waiting For the Harness.
I still have an issue for the Terrestrial Antenna, do I absolutely need all the Xm components because I don't really want it, I just want the normal radio to work but it's not the same connector at the rear of Radio

I just got the kit from Martin in the mail today. Im excited! Appreciate all the pics in your original post. Gave me a good idea of what my car will go through for this awesome mod lol. I think Im going to pay Martin to just come out here and install all this for me. I dont know that I trust anyone locally to do this. Especially since no one in my area has done this before....

Seriously! I thought this mod was impossible after i first bought my tl. But after reading this thread and a few others, I decided to make the jump. Martin is supposed to come to Dallas to install this for me on the 18th...which cant come soon enough lol.

Really? That's awesome! Did you buy the harness from ebay? I can't seem to find it. Also...How long did it take you to find all the parts?

Actually I didnt need to go and hunt down the parts individually. I believe its cheaper if you do it that way, but I dont have the patience to wait to find all the parts and then install it. I wanted it to be done right now. If you goto ebay and look for the user "acurahondatech" he actually has all the parts that you need built as a kit to do the conversion including the custom harness. It is kinda overpriced if you go this route, but if you dont have the patience or time to go and find these parts then its definitely an option.

What year TL do you have?

Hey bzyrice, this write was awesome, I just finished my Nav conversion. it cost me a little over 1200.00 which is a great deal. I ordered the harness off ebay and it worked AWESOME. Really makes the install easy. Took me a little over 3 hours to do!

One quick question to all the converters, how much did all this cost. I'm about to buy a non-navi 3rd gen but want to know if it would be better to just wait and get one with navi. It's a 2004 tl with 60k miles and I might be able to get it for 12 or 13k. This sounds like the better deal to me.

just finished my non-navi to navi conversion. Martin did the install. Its awesome!

However, I am having one issue with the HFL. After I hang up a phone call, I tried to use a voice command feature on the navi, the system tells me that i cannot use the feature because i cannot use 2 sources at once for the audio. which im implying as that the navi doesn't know that I have actually hung up the phone, it seems to think that im still using the mic/audio for the phone call when im not. Anyone know what the problem might be?? Is it a harness issue? If so, thats going to be a pain in the ass...

Best to buy a TL with navi if you know you want it. Basically, everyone that doesn't want to put a computer in their dash wishes they had the navi. Even if you don't use it, it completes the interior. I paid Martin for the package and put it in myself for about 2k.

Agreed. Get the TL with navigation. I put a carpc in my 08 TL, while fun, it is a lot of time putting the software on it, and extending wires and such. For comparison the carPC cost about $1000 for everythign, I did all the labor myself.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I've been trying to find one with navi and low miles but they are at least 3-4k more. I don't mind spending $1000 for the conversion, but I will try to find one with it. And I totally agree, navigation just completes the package; I have it in my old 2nd gen.

I only paid around 1300 for my whole install.. But, I looked for all my parts myself..

Hey guys sorry to bring this thread back but I'm about to buy the kit from Martin.

I just have a few questions.

What's the difference between the 04-06 navi and the 07-08?

Ive been searching and with the harness, individuals are installing this within 4 hours. Assume a shop is installing this with 2 people would 2-3 hours be a reasonable charge?

Thanks!

Martin installed the navi and backup cam for me in less than 3 hours last weekend. I got the '07-08 navi. Better screen resolution and XM NavTraffic.
