#1 goes for the ground, I grounded this wire on the car frame on my tests and I was able to get the display working well for temperature and HFL.

#2 goes into #20 of the Display Panel Connector E. Its a 5v and it's the power source for the HVAC sub display (see 2nd pic)

All SubDisplay Wire connects to the Connector E from the display Panel.

Here are all the wire link

SubDisplay -> Connector E
#1 -> Ground
#2 -> #20 Power
#4 -> #22 DATA
#5 -> #21 CLOCK
#6 -> #10 DATA
#7 -> #9 CE Communication signal
#8 -> #8 Shielded Ground for no9,10,21,22
#9 -> #19 LCD BackLight -
#10 -> #18 LCD BackLight +

I see that there's 2 DATA wire, maybe I'll have to try disconnecting one of does and see which data both wire carry.

I got 9 connectors left on the Connector E, looks like they will connect to the Navigation Unit (DVD player), I'll simply wait for my stuff to come and I'll give it a try.

so basically when purchasing the floor, dash & roof harness, you strip out the needed wires and just insert these wires into the existing harness ?

I guess I didnt make it big enough:

* These instructions do not include how to make the harness since I used the custom harness from ebay. DO NOT ASK ME HOW I MADE MY HARNESS!!!

Cheaper to buy it from the guy on ebay!

lol just realized I High JACKED your thread with my SubDisplay Conversion. I might start a new to so we can figure out what my problem is.

I got a question for you: Did you change your stereo when you did you conversion? If you did, maybe this is where my problem is.....

^^Good news, so we know that the stereo is the same with Navi or Non-Navi.

I juste received the DVDrom + 2nd Clock Display, unfortunatly the guy didnt have the antenna, so I'll have to by it new or from a local junk yard....

I'll do some minor tests and keep ya updated...

Not sure yet.. I dont know why it wouldnt tho.. I am waiting to get my DOMs unit to test it.. Might be a month tho before I can get it..

I got my camera used from another member who i purchased some parts for my non nai to navi install from... he gave me a great deal on everything so I had to buy it..

Question: Which connectors regarding the Navigation Unit(Dvdrom) you'd be able to give or sell?

I tested the new SubDisplay NaviClock with the screen yesterday but didnt have any more success, still missing the Stereo Info on the display...I admit that I'm a little confused here since the data is working with the NON-Navi display....

If moahdib could chime in it would be awesome lol he's the first who did that mod...

I actually have all of them.. not sure how much i want for them yet..

I believe that the navi unit may be the one sending out the signal for the subdisplay.. but i think the radio feeds the navi.. so you will need alll of them connected for the sub display to work ..

I found that by searching and searching, since moahdib is the only ONE who did that.....it's kinda hard to find...

http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/show...d-ver-2-a.html
POST #7 he's saying that only the Navi Display is required + the 9 wire harness...

I'll double check my harness and maybe I'll get something positive...

bzyrice is right....it can be anywhere from 1000-4000 to convert and the wire harness is better to get from this guy on ebay than to buy the harness and put it together yourself. Saves time and money unless you can get the original harness for free. I just bought mine from the guy on ebay and picking it up tommorow. All the parts so far cost me 900 for everything used. Hopefully all the parts work.

Great job on the install, bzy. Finished installing my puddlelights just last week, which your avatar was the inspiration for. Can't hang with ya on the Nav, though. TL isn't even a year old yet so my wife is still in the "why are you messing with a brand new car?" mode. Had to sneak and install the lights. She loves them but I don't dare tell her I had to drill holes to get them in. I'll catch up with some other kind of way. Hope everything runs smooth.

no i pulled all my parts from an 05. And no the older 04-06 dvd roms cannot read the discs from the 07-08s.. You should be fine getting the 04 navi.. just may need to upgrade to a newer orange disk.

No problems. I used my original radio with my navi. Just make sure you have the radio code! When you install the navi, you will have to input the radio and navi code. Good luck and keep us posted!

most of my parts came out from a 2006 TL, just thought i should share some before and after pics of the work thats to the great writeup by bzyrice.

It was really worth the time and effort and money put into this mod. It would have been nice to have the car with navi for the 4 years i've had it, but for some reason i think i appreciate it more because of the work i put into it myself.

Awesome man another success story!!! I wanted to post this DIY to show how ieasy it can be!! And I read in another thread you did it in 4 hours!! Nice!! It took me soo long because of that dang Air Bag bolt! Did you end up replacing the bolts or just using the ones you had?

yeah it only took 4 hours. i was amazed myself, i think it was easier because of the writeup you made and the instructions from martin. Plus he was able to show me easy ways to get some of the panels off since i went to pick up my cable directly from him in NJ. I ended up using the same bolts, it wasnt that hard to come out.
