My '04 TL doesn't have the notch in the front... only the one that comes from the cargo area below.

Just to let everyone know, I upgraded to a 3G iPhone, and the USA Spec Hon2y doesn't charge it. The statement above related to the 1st-gen iPhone.

What happens now, when I plug in the phone, I get a message that "this accessory wasn't made for the iPhone, and won't charge it", or words to that effect. The audio still works perfectly.

I've emailed USA Spec tech support (just now) and I'm hopeful they'll have a solution.

I'll keep you guys posted.

Don't know if you saw this, but there's another thread about this issue, but it hasn't been updated lately. Here's the link in case you want to PM anyone else who's having the same issue: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=184167

Keep us posted, however. My guess is that there are several companies in addition to USA Spec scrambling to find solutions right now.

Just got word from USA Spec... they say Apple changed the dock connector, they have a new cable in the works, and it will be ready in 6-7 weeks.

My guess is they need time to manufacture / ship them from China.

Contact info@usaspec.com and they will send you contact info including a phone number to obtain the new cable. I won't post the number here, as that would be rude.

Looks like I'm taking my dash apart again!

Thanks for the update DMoyes. Sounds like they are on top of it.

By the way, for anyone interested - this DOES NOT affect the iPod Touch. I upgraded my software to the new "iPhone 2.0" software the other day and the USA Spec module continues to charge the iPod Touch just fine.

Regarding GMS Buzzing. If you want to not hear that buzz you should try this product I found at www.stopthebuzzin.com You can slip it under your phone and like magic it stops any buzzing. There is a video on the site that shows it.

ahh that skipping is driving me wack! If it skips and is quiet inbetween the skip thats one thing, but it makes this static/buzz noise. Its really embarrassing and extremely annoying! Somtimes it skips quietly, but once or twice a day it makes this noise. Are you guys getting this? Im am pretty sure my cable is tight in the head unit. I might have to take everything apart again to make sure

As for the notch, when I want my ipod out I just pull the wire to the side and close the cover on top the wire. Definitely not as nice as having the notch but whatever it works. Kind of stresses the wire but dont think it hurts it any.

I'm afraid mine does pretty much the same thing. Sometimes 1-2 times per day, sometimes not at all. I don't get it.

There was some discussion in another thread about the placement of this notch on the '06's. It turns out it started showing up on the '06's which were made later in the model year...just before the '07's showed up, which mine was.

USASpec and video..

i heard the new connectors were out for the use spec and the iphone 3g, just dropped a note to usaspec today to see if i can pick one up, was using the headphone jack on my video ipod through doms unit.. obviously this won't work with the iphone since everything goes through the bottom connector

looking at different solutions running the power and video out of the bottom... i want to keep the functionality of the ipod navigation through the dash and wheel, but i want to have the option to play the video through the nav...

so while i could go with this cable..

and run the audio to the aux audio in on the usa spec then run the RCA video cable to Doms box... again this isn't something i want to do.. i loose charging, i lose control from the wheel and dash...

Another solution would be this cable...

I could run the USB to the center console or wire in another powerpoint/cig lighter under the dash.. and run the usb power to it.. but what a hassle.

which leaves to me an older A/V dock and cable extender...

the cable extender is here:

http://www.cablejive.com/extendercable.html

and the dock is from apple:

however not sure about audio running through the apple connector from the doc the usa spec.. i guess i could pick one up and test since its only $12 off ebay.. but what a hassle versus the headphone jack video solution!

If anyone has any ideas.. lets hear em...

I wouldnt install the module or anything electrical where snow or wetness from rain could drain down to under the seat -- at least for those of us that get snowy weather. Plenty of places to place it securely under the lower dash -

I suppose you have a point. Given that I live where we get less than 10 inches of rain per year, it really wasn't a concern for me.

I'm pretty sure you can only do one or the other in terms of the hook-ups to the USASpec unit. If you go with the RCA-In to get video you will lose navigation capabilities from the steering wheel.

Where's the best and cheapest place to buy the USA Spec Hon2y?

Also, has anyone tried hooking up their iPhone and try playing music from an application such as Pandora?

This is where I bought mine. $104

http://enfigcarstereo.com/shopsite_s...A11_HON2Y.html

I use Simplify Media with my iPhone 3G in my TL with the USA Spec all the time. Check it out:

www.simplifymedia.com

Basically, I can listen to my home music library (90 gigs) from anywhere with my iPhone. I just need to leave my computer on.

Sent. Regarding the hosting, I don't think it can be done directly through the Board, but I may need to look into setting something else up.
