Guys and Gals....
PLEASE READ THIS....
We have been getting flooded with calls saying that i have said that they are available. NO THEY ARE NOT. They are indeed here but are not yet available. Please do no argue with my guys when they say its not available yet. I also get emails asking how to order..... really? there is so much info on this site as to how to order but ill break it down to you.
Travis - UNCLAD4 - Has PRE-ORDERED (that's right PRE-ORDERED) 20 of them.
Visit his store and pay for one to make sure you get one. Since its a pre-order if he gets more than 20 people wanting them he can get 20 more before they even come out.
I don't know the exact release date of this harness. I know its here and i know it needs a new instructions and all. Now from what I have heard we may be waiting on the 20 ft iPod cables to arrive before the PGHHD2 harnesses are available. (not my decision, nor can I change that)
One thing i do know is that calling and/or writing an email asking if you can purchase directly or before its released will NOT get you a harness. Those of you who have done this know who you are.
My advice is:
Pre-order from Travis so that you can make sure you get one. He will know at about the same time as i do when the harness will be available.
I promise that i will come back on this board and let you know, once i know, when it will be available.
Thanks,
TT.

Okay, so I posted this in another thread but I can't seem to find it anymore so I figured I could ask here. Has anyone tried to play music on their iPhone from an application such as Pandora or will this only work with mp3 that are actually on your iPhone/iPod?
#167
Sorry if this has already been answered I only skimmed the pages of this forum, the new harness that's coming out does it only work with nav? I have an 05 TL without nav so do I have to buy the older harness and just deal with it not pausing when HFL picks up a call?

If you have a brand new iPod or iPhone, you'll just need the 5v charging/sync cable. No special harness needed. But if I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will speak up.

Thanks Travis,
I got the cable yesterday. I have the PXAMG with the lastest firmware available and as intructed by Playa4real, only dip switch 2 is on.
I want to ask everyone else that already have the cable. Are you able to see the iPOD?
I am able to switch from XM1 and XM2 but I am not able to see the iPOD. When turning the knob I just see the XM channels.
Anyone having the same issue? I am trying to confirm if I am missing something or I have a bad PXAMG module.
Thanks

you guys need to disconnect the negative terminal of the battery for 10 mins and reconnect it. When you hit the xm button it will say SAT, which is when you will scroll until you see IPOD on the nav screen instead of SAT. Try that...

Move dip switch 2 to the on position, disconnect the battery for 10 mins. Connect it and run the car in accessory mode for 3 minutes. When you hit the XM button turn the tune nob till it says, IPOD, and then your set.

I love you man.
I thought I had a defective isimple or harness or xm receiver. It was driving me nuts.
Your instructions worked like a charm. Thanks!!!

The battery trick works. Mine is working now.
One more question. How is the sound/signal quality? Do you feel the sound is too low? I have to turn the volume up to 20 for a good volume, different from the CD or even the radio when 8 to 10 is enough to get a very good volume.
I tried configuring the iPOD sound check on and off. No difference. iPOD volume limit is also at maximum.

Sounds works good.
Are any of you experiences a double buzzing noise when changing the xm stations? When I switch stations on the xm there is a buzzing in between when it changes.

So you guys that have this installed: you are still receiving analog signal correct? Reason I'm asking is I am still searching for a viable solution to digital music from my iphone + using the NAV/XM system for controls.

I get that it does the controls and such and I also realize it will work with the iPhone. I was merely mentioning that those are the things I require.
My question specifically was: Does the unit output digital or analog audio signal though? Most of you said you had to turn your volume up to 15-20 before it was adequately satisfactory... I can only assume that this means the unit outputs analog signal and it is something I am not looking for.
Sorry if my previous post was vague... I am retarded at English sometimes.

How are you guys doing with this system? After installation I had a few quirks...volume controls sound quality was low, buzzing noise when switching in between XM stations. After disconnecting the battery and reconnecting everything went away

This may not be the right place to post this but since I'm one of the users using this new cable I thought I would. Mine is installed and working what I think is normal. I can control everything and I can see track, artist and cd information just fine. I do however have a few issues.
1. As noted above volume level is lower that all other sources but a good 10 numbers. I find the need to actually go all the was to 40 to get a good loud sound but it's only as loud as all other sources are at 30. Setting the volume on the ipod itself does nothing.
2. On screen controls use the screen pre-sets 1-6 and they all work as the instructions claim BUT it's a pain in the but because the buttons are not labeled. It would be far more user friendly if the buttons had labels like button 6 should say "search" or something like that. Maybe in a future upgrade....?
Another thought - The extension cable was not needed as the original cable was plenty long enough to snake from the trunk, under the rear seat and into the center console.
And a Question - I also have the HD-Radio module but have yet to install it because I need to figure out where to snag an antenna connection. I noticed that in the trunk there are what looks to be 3 antenna connections that would be easy to tap into with the right adapter cable. One is on the XM box, the other is on the DVD drive (why does it have an antenna connection) and the last one is a spare that is taped with blue tape to the wiring harness. All three of these connections are NOT the same type as is found on the head unit in the dash so I did not have a suitable adapter to even try them. Does anyone know what these all are, if they would work and if yes where I could find an adapter...?

A volume difference can always be expected when adding an aftermarket source. I've noticed this on almost every car on numerous aux-in and iPod adapters. However, I do not recall a large 10 click difference from one source to the next.
I would definitely be cool to have the buttons labeled with their function. The PXAMG is a universal module and I don't see this happening without raising the cost quite a bit. For example, I have the PXAMG on my 2005 Silverado. Cost of about $150. I recently installed an iPod adapter in a similar year Silverado that was not a universal adapter. It has similar features to the Peripheral Media Gateway but it's model was specific to this truck. It's control buttons were labeled on the nav screen. Cost on that sucker was north of $300.
Using the extension cable is up to you. From an installer point of view I would not run a data cable, or any cable, up the center of the car.
The antenna connections that you've mentioned are either for the Navigation or for the XM/NavTraffic. None of them are related to the AM/FM signal. Your radio antenna starts in your rear window goes down the drivers side C pillar and up to the radio where it terminates. There are two connections in that path between start and finish.
