HVAC and Radio display gone dead - need help

anyone here you can help - need help, in process of relocating my display of radio and climate contol, I had to cut all wires reaching from the car to the circuit board in the console. I cut all wires coming in below Center vent above dash to extend and in the process, shorted them - there was a spark and now everything is dead - blower starts by pressing Mode - something went wrong - any suggestions to check and fix. I am not sure which fuse controls power

Why are you cutting and splicing with the battery connected

yes completely aware and totally missed trying to finish the task. I read through forum and seems Fuse 32 may need to be check which powers HvaC etc. another thing, I used 26 AWG for extending the wires and original wires are more like 18-20 AWG , not sure if circuit tripped due to higher amp. Do I have to replace with stranded 20 AWG

Yikes. Check the fuse and replace if needed and wire sizes should be the same as factory and never downsized in any electronic application.

The safest route is to remove the buttons from the vehicle and insert the extended wires in between those buttons and their own connectors.
To clarify, I mean cut the green plug off the end of the wires attached to the 2 sets of climate control buttons, solder in the extended wire then solder the green plug back on.

The bonus is you don't have to actually be in the vehicle to do it this way.
