The USCellular people have the V710 with the 1.3 firmware only.

Anyone know whether it's possible for me to update it to 1.4? If so, where do I find the download?

Alternatively, how long do I wait for USC to get some 1.4 phones?

 

To do it yourself you are going to need the USB cable. Im not sure if there is a modded firmware for USC , i saw alot of Alltel and Verizon links but not that company in my recent research. I have verizon and the new modded firmware for verizon is very good with the HSF. The flash will be different for your phone.

I would follow tommyz instructions. I made the mistake of taking it to a Verizon store. After the upgrade the phone would not power up and I lost everything in the phone. Just a suggestion...I would back up your phone book and anything else you might not want to lose. Verizon did send me a new phone and credited by account for the inconvenience. There are several threads regarding this question with more information. Good luck...
