Should only take about 60 sec to add your remote back on to your opener. If you have rolling code, it's just a matter of pressing the learn button on then the button on your remote twice.

I have the rolling code. I wonder if that means it sets a new code each time you press learn? maybe I need to do all the remotes at the same time so they all know the same code.

No, I think you have the term misinterpreted. I think the code is different each time you use the remote. I don't know the specifics, but I've added the Homelink to my rolling code garage door opener and it had no affect on the existing remotes. They remain to work as usual. I'm not sure why you experienced your problem, but the solution would be to relearn the other remotes.

When you programmed the homelink, were you successful the first try? If not, you probably reset all the codes by accident while programming the car. You just have to do all the other remotes again. My learn and reset was the same button, it just depended on how long i pressed the button for

To op: once you've trained your homelink to speak the language of your remote all you should of had to do is trainer your opener to your homelink. If I were you I'd clear your opener of all remotes and retrain them all. It's super easy to do... You probably hold down your learn button on your opener until you get a fast blink or something... it should then be cleared. Then gather up your remotes. Press the learn button on the opener and then press the remote button twice. Do this for all your remotes including your homelink. You're home now speaks the langauge of your opener now, so just train same way you did your remotes. Press the learn button on the opener, and scurry down you ladder and quickly press the button in your car twice. I think your garage door opener light bulb may flash once it learns each remote.

I'm assuming that this is a rolling code opener (cause most newer openers are). I had some issues with my Genie opener as well. It took some patience but I was able to get it to work. I think I had to first go through the steps for the non-rolling code openers and then go through the steps for the rolling code openers to get mine to work. Not sure why, but it worked for me.
