HFL voice prompt at hyperspeed
Folks,
I recently experienced a very bizarre occurance with the HFL on my 2005 TL (non-nav) AT. I depressed the HFL button on the steering wheel to speak a command and the confirmation beep was very high pitched. Then when I said "Call" along with the number, the "Would you like to call xxxx?" prompt was delivered like a 33 rpm record at 78 rpm speed. It's like the system was on amphetimines. As it still appeared to accept my voice commands, I actually initiated a call and got nothing but distortion.
This problem continued until the vehicle was cycled off and back on again which appeared to remedy the issue. I've asked Acura customer support (futile effort as always) and asked the dealer but no one's aware of this ever occurring with the HFL.
Has anyone out there ever experienced this? My defective headunit was replaced a couple of months ago so I'm not sure if this was contributing to the problem.
Thanks!

It sounds like a flaw in the HFL unit, not the headunit. My guess is something is dinked with the clock circuitry for the HFL processor, at least the portion that plays back the audio.

Keep Right Except to Pass
Half the kids on this board probably don't know what you mean by a 33-rpm record (technically a 33-1/3 rpm record) played at 78-rpm speed!!!!
Never had that problem myself, though. I just had to poke fun at the deficiencies of the youth of today.

Wondered if some wouldn't get the speed reference
That's a good point. I thought the reference might be a bit archaic given the age of many of the child owners of the TL. I even contemplated a chipmunk reference but that probably would have been just as confusing to those teenage or early 20's owners. Must be nice sponging off the parents to invest the bulk of your salary into your vehicle!
