HFL locked how to reset without going to dealer?
I just got bought a 07 TL with Navigation and everything works great, except for the Handsfree link. Everytime I press the button it says that I need to enter the 4 digit passcode which i dont have. And I have no idea what it is and the previous owner doesn't either. I tried the basic ones of "1 2 3 4" "0 0 0 0" and several other combos with no luck.
I read through the threads and almost all the solutions have been going to the dealer. I really don't want to go to the dealer so I am trying to find alternatives.
I saw 2 possible alternatives which were:
-Disconnecting the battery and connecting them both to each other for 15mins, however i didn't see them say it work with a TL with Navi..
-Was taking out the #7 fuse and putting it back on which would reset the HFL.
however, there hasn't been any confirmations on it working so I haven't done them yet. Has anyone been able to reset or bypass the code without having to take it to dealer?
Any reccomendations would be greatly appreciated!

Took it to the dealer today and they tried resetting 2 times with no luck. They said that it might be a bad handsfree link and wanted to do a diagnostic on it but i had to go back to work. gahh..just want it to work..

I was unsucessful trying to reset the code myself so I took it to the dealer. They have to plug a computer to it to reset the code. I work for a handset manufacturer and the Handfree Link works like a charm.

per manual on page 193

NOTE:All phones may not operate
identically, and some may cause
inconsistent operation of the HFL.

Setting Your PasscodeThe HFL will accept a numeric, fourdigit
passcode that you can use for
security purposes. Follow the system setup procedure as described previously.
Press and release the Talk button. After the beep, say ‘‘Yes.’’ The HFL response is ‘‘What is the four-digit number you would like to set as your passcode?’’ Press and release the Talk button. After the beep, say the four-digit passcode you want to use. For example, say ‘‘1, 2, 3, 4.’’ TheHFL
response is ‘‘1, 2, 3, 4. Is this correct?’’ Press and release the Talk button.
After the beep, say ‘‘Yes.’’ The HFL response is ‘‘Security is on.
Each time the vehicle is turned on, the passcode will be required to
use the system. The system setup is complete. Returning to the main
menu.’’ Press and release the Talk button. If you say ‘‘No.’’ after the beep, the
HFL response is ‘‘Security will not be used. The system setup is
complete.’’ Once a passcode is set, you can lock the HFL so it only operates after the passcode is entered. The HFL will prompt you for your passcode each time the ignition switch is turned to the ON (II) position and you press the Talk button. You will only be asked for the passcode once per ignition
cycle. If the passcode is set, its response is ‘‘The system is locked.
What is the four-digit passcode?’’ Press and release the Talk button.
After the beep, say your four-digit passcode. For example, say ‘‘1, 2, 3,
4.’’ If the passcode is correct, the HFL response is ‘‘Main menu.’’ If the
passcode is not correct, the HFL response is ‘‘1,2,3,4 is incorrect.
Please try again.’’ Go back to the step 2. If you forget your passcode and you
cannot activate the HFL, consult your dealer to cancel the passcode.

you can't. you have to take it to the dealership. When i bought my car used the previous owner had a code. I tried disconnecting the battery and taking out fuses but nothing worked. Took it to the dealer they could not reset it do to a defective HFL. My car was still under warranty so the dealership fixed it with no cost to me.
