HFL lock up. Does anyone know what's ACTUALLY happening?

Has anyone actually figured out what part or component on the HFL module actually blows or breaks and is there a specific reason for this? I work for an electrical engineering company, and I would imagine this problem has a fix.

Mine's been shot for a year, and i miss it. No F*&#ing way I'm paying for a new one.

I took mine out of my 2006 and looked for burnt resistors, blown caps, cold solder joints, etc. The thing looked pristine.

I would donate it to a professional to be evaluated and a fix found.
