HFL is broken and need to get a new one
I've searched through the threads to find where I can purchase a new HFL unit but none of the links either work or take you to an HFL unit for sale. I've checked Ebay (maybe I just need to wait). Does anyone know if an HFL until will work from an RL? Any answers about where I can get the HFL module will help. Thanks to all.

I just got by car back from Acura and they said that it was out (no longer working). They didn't really go into detail as to what the diagnosis was of the HFL module. They said that it is a common problem among 2004 TL's. They no longer carry the 2004 module, just the 2005-2006 model. The guy that I spoke with said that of all of the 30 or so people who've come into to that Acura that only 2 have acutally paid to replace it. I have an extended warranty but it didn't cover it. Thats why i'm trying to find out if anyone knows where exactly to get one.

I would first see how much the replacement would cost because researching finding one. If the deal is going to charge you $200, then maybe it's not worth it. Just something to think about.

deal charges $800. I'm trying to find one (used if I have to) for much cheaper obviously.

Technical Service Bulletin; it's an internal note distributed to the dealers to cover recurrent issues. The 2004 HFLs have ben historically spotty, your might fall under this TSB. If you have a CPO and this TSB, there is absolutley NO reason this should not be covered.

It's weird. The 04 doesn't list a HFL module although the illustration shows it.
The 05 and up does. Price varies a bit but no where near $800.

Call some import junk yards and even try out ebay. I found one in a wrecked TL locally. What you are after is the box inside of the #8 part... you don't need the plastic trim/housing. I got mine for $50 used.

IMO there will always be problems with HFL even if you get a new one. I think 90% of the people here have had problems with theirs, myself included. I stopped using it as it was just a pain in the ass.

Just ordered a replacement HFL for 2005 RL from Delray Acura, FL, $621 delivered, cheaper than anyone else. http://www.acuraoemparts.com/delray/jsp/home.jsp
Now I need some instructions for its installation. Comments?

I had this same problem when I first got my 2004 TL a few years back. Extended warranties does NOT cover this TSB issue.
My problem was that since I did not purchase the car from the dealer, they see no sense in giving me a Goodwill Consideration (which is what you can request for this or any other TSB). For them to replace such a part out of the kindness of their heart is pointless, especially if you don't go to the dealer for every little thing that goes wrong with your TL.
They quoted me about the same price- over $600 for parts and labor. For that price, and after they told me that I don't "qualify" for goodwill considerations (they actually said that!), I promptly walked out the door and told them I'd never go their dealership again.
For what it costs, plus the fact that bluetooth drains your phone's battery, I just opt to use the phone itself to get calls while driving. Saves me money, but then again, I usually don't answer my phone while driving since I don't like distractions anyway.
