Has anyone swapped radio with HVAC?

Has anyone ever swapped the headunit with the HVAC? Just wondering how hard it would be because it just seems a bit low for gps and back up camera use.

Well .. most Nav screens/ radio displays (including the 3g tl with nav) are up in that area.. I feel it is more dangerous to look downward toward your shifter when using nav

You would probably need to extend some wires. The problem is that rest of the console is shaped like those panels, meaning wider at the top, and silver trim going around volume knob.

Making it look nice would be the main problem.

Additionally, there is no much room behind the HVAC panel, so if your head unit is long it won't fit.

There is a brace in behind the Nav screen. When I installed mine, I got it as high as possible without cutting and making another brace.

I also used a head that is a double din front, but actually a single din behind. Check out the mock up pics I posted.

Well I’m really most interested in relocating just the display not the buttons .. and I already planned on doing custom trim panels to remove the volume knob cutouts

The piece below the head is made of lexan, I made it to mount the bass control and the USB/HDMI plug.
