Has anyone ever tried this??

I did not want to drill new holes in the firewall so I did the following:
1. Find the original harness running throught the firewall slightly above where your picture is and slightly more to the left (fender/door).
2. Get a metal wire feeder or coat hanger.
3. Undo the coat hanger. Striaghten the hanger out. At one end bend a loop so part of the hanger bends back towards the rest of the hanger. Crimp this tightly and tape electrical tape around so it becomes nice and soft. (i.e. no rough metal edges can be felt) Tape the other end to your power wire with electrical tape. Use enough length and be generous with the electrical tape so the wire can't be tugged off easily.
4. Feed the one end of the coat hanger from the inner firewall (i.e. under dash) to the engine side firewall throught the original wire harness gromet.
NOTE! Depending on size of power wire you may need to cut a small slit or hole in the gromet to get the wire through.
5. Have a friend on the other end of firewall grab hanger when you push through the gromet and firewall. This prevents scraping anything with metal hanger.
6. Once a friend has the hanger have them pull the wire as you guide it throught the gromet and firewall making sure nothing gets caught or cut on exposed metal. Also make sure the gromet does not want to be pulled through with the wire. If this happens you may need to cut a little slit or hole as suggested above.
This is how I fed my power wire through. I hope this helps you somewhat.
