Lawl.

I have a 8 in my door with 425w on tap per mid. I could be heard blocks away if i wanted to.

If that's what you're looking for, we can lead you in the right direction. 6x9's in the trunk lid is the shitty way of going about it.

Results would be a lot better if you focused your time and money into your front stage.

I've seen it, but usually only show cars. Dodge did this with the caliber I believe. You pop the hatch and flip down the speakers so they point behind the car for tailgating etc. That's the only production car I can recall right this moment with such a setup.

So you post on a forum, asking opinions and wondering if your "the first", then when people tell you that's the wrong way to go about being loud, you get pissed. Why would you do all that work putting in 6x9's just so you can use them while your at the park? Why not use that money towards speakers in the car that will yield the same results and allow for you to use them while you're actually in the car. Obviously you didn't care what people said or thought, and most likely knew people were going to say this is a pretty dumb idea seeing how you said you were moving forward with the project and posted photos less than 1 hour from your original post. Feel like I'm tuning into Pimp My Ride. All you need now is a fish tank inside

as a show car/ demo/ tailgate, sure, but it is so far down on the priority list it isn't funny.

And I didn't read the whole thread, because that is a lot of words. and I am a little drunk...but tell me you aren't using a single shitbox 6x9. If you are going to go to the trouble, at least use something decent.

Many show cars have done this, I'll be it with much better quality speakers and usually a video monitor as well. Since you are going through with this (not so great idea, in which you are NOT the 1st), please put a switch on the amp going to those speakers so you can turn it on/off when you need them and, well....use some better speakers.

already doing,
and as far as speakers they are still in the box. thats one to just show where they are going. i have some polks that my brother gave me. and whos done it to their TL? because thats originally what i was refering to. and this is not a show car at all, its simply to get sound outside which would really come in handy for me alot. (with using insanely good speakers that dont fit inside.)

If you don't want to leave your doors open while listening, I can see doing this. If you don't mind having the doors open, upgrading and amping your front stage is a MUCH better idea. It will be louder and sound better and you can enjoy it while driving. My IB setup with the doors and trunk open work very well for field parties.

As for the 6x9s, you're going to put them in an enclosure, right?

A cheap alternative that might work better is a 10" or 12" pro audio driver in a tiny box. Probably would come in at $30.

I would've attacked the doors with a couple 6 1/2's, an 8, or a 10 and went from there.

Sound travels very far in the right install

IE

His doors are open, but it would still be loud if the doors were closed

Does it really matter if we think it is worthwhile or not? The OP does and that should be enough.

I personally think the trunk lid speakers wouldn't be the most effective. Wouldn't one of those truck speaker boxes work better without all the work?

FWIW, Chrysler did this with almost all their SUVs and the Caliber a few year's back. So no, you're not the first.

op sounds like a fucking crybaby. take the advice from your fellow members, which are only here to help you better your car (coming from guys with far more experience with the car then you have). if you're going to start a thread asking for answers/advice; well take the fucking advices and stop being such a negative bitch about every single comment someone leaves.

Prove us wrong kid. Show us that its not a dumb idea. Personally I hate listening to other peoples music when I am at the park or the soccer fields. It's called an Ipod

And by the way Polk Audio is Britney Spears of car audio. Ya they look nice but they sound like shit. If youre gonna do it do it right. Spend some money on some decent equipment.
