Good sub for bandpass?

I'm thinking of making a miracle box. Something like this one but I'm not too worried about trunk space.
https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-audio-bluetooth-electronics-navigation-94/mini-dreambox-build-%3D-decisions-decisions-2ohm-4ohm-dual-single-coil-763323/

I can get this subwoofer for $70 but is it any good? ID 12" v3 D2
http://www.imagedynamicsusa.com/prod...hp?Family_Id=2
http://www.imagedynamicsusa.com/pdf/...%20D2%20v3.pdf

I'm not sure if 1 12" is enough for me though.
Any amp recommendations? Under $200. Thinking about a Hifonics Brutus.

Car audio is one of my least knowlegable subjects so I can only give you a rough guide.

From what I've seen, subs with a ton of excursion generally don't like to be bandpassed. Many times the cheaper and efficient subs do very well.

The W6 sounds very good bandpassed. I didn't check your location before I posted but if you're in CA, stop by the Acurafest meet and listen to mine.

I've heard the IDQ sounds very good bandpassed too.

As for one or two subs, keep in mind with a good bandpass box, output is going to be much better at the same power level over a sealed and even a ported box.

I believe CSWBiggs said this box gave an 8db gain over a sealed box. I *think* that's about 5db over a typical ported box so you're basically getting very close to the output of two subs with only one.

Like I said, one of the good things about going bandpass is that many of the cheaper subs will work well. The biggest thing is the box though. A bandpass done wrong will sound terrible.

Others I'm sure can go into much more detail. There are certain specs that you can look at to determine if the sub will do well in a bandpass. The other option is to get ahold of the manufacturer and ask.

hmm, I think I might go with the ID, 2 of them.

Now with the amp. The subwoofer is 250w RMS/450w Max. So should I get an amp that does around 450-500w RMS?
Something like this? http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...-D+Series.html

What length of power wire do I need? 0, 2 or 4 gauge?

Oh and does anyone have any DIY Subwoofer Box articles you recommend? Preferably for bandpass.

oh and making bandpass and ported boxes are tough. if you want it to sound good you have to get down the exact specs the sub needs, alot of times you'll see just general specs but to get best sound they need certain amount of room in the box, certain size holes, etc.... best of luck i would like to know how this turns out. send some pics

I'm trying to stay under $300 if possible.
I'll check out those links, thanks.

I mainly look through craigslist lol. I was thinking about an elemental designs sub but I think shipping will kill my budget.
I'm looking at getting the sub and making the box by the end of the month and getting the amp next month.

I don't mean to make these double posts but I actually checked and there was free shipping.

How is this one?

What makes a sub be able to work in a bandpass enclosure? Can I check the specs or should I ask the manufacturer?

I have one Boston G5 DVC almost new condition up for sale. Id like to make a miricale box aswell for my other Boston G5 DVC but im tired of experimenting as i have already build couple of boxes and so far Im not satisfied with one yet. I wish someone could give me the cuts on the miracle box... It looks like im just gonna take everything out as it seems that im lugging weight around for no reason.

The manufacturer could tell you. It's in the TS parameters but I'm not sure exactly what numbers you would look for.

Honestly you should keep looking on craigslist, for $300 you should be able to get the whole system, subs, box, amp everything. And some decent stuff as well. Just make sure u test it before hand.

hmm, I've been thinking.

I'm kind of worried about designing the box cause I never built one before. Should I just go sealed?

Got the 2 Cerwin Vegas. I might build a vented box sooner or later but I'll keep it like that for now and get the Amp, Wiring and LOC. Is that all I need?

My friend has the same 2 subs and he has a Hifonics Brutus 1600. Thinking about if I should run the same amount.

I've always had a soft spot for Cerwin Vegas I guess because they were very popular when I was young. I had an old pair of AT-12 home speakers when I was in highschool, my dad had the 15s. I had two 15" paper cone Cerwin Vegas in my GN back in '97. Actually sounded very good as far as I can remember.

Could I use this LOC? All I need is 2 channel right?
http://www.davidnavone.com/cart.asp?14&pid=362

I see Stinger Electronics has 3 different LOC. 3 different Wattage, 2 fixed and 1 adjustable. What are the differences?
They're on Page 2.
http://www.stingerelectronics.com/pr...edcategoryid=3

I hear things about Line Drivers. Do I need one of those?
