Getting Bluetooth to Let Go?

I have a Treo 650 that I'm using with HFL. It works great, except for one thing.

I actually use the navigation system in my Treo 650, which uses Bluetooth to connect to the GPS. How do I get the Acura to let the Bluetooth connection go so that I can use my Treo with other bluetooth devices (the headset for a private call, or the bluetooth GPS)?

No matter what I do - security lock it, reset the Bluetooth on my phone - it still locks the connection to itself.

The only thing I successfully did was delete the phone. Unfortunately, the HFL system has a bug in it where it doesn't *really* delete the phone, it just removes it from the list of phones. I you try to re-add the phone, the HFL system crashes and you have to completely clear it (losing all your phonebook settings, etc.) to re-add the phone again.

The 800 number at HFL refuses to admit the "delete" bug exists in their system (even though I tested it on my friend's Acura with a supported phone and it still happens).

Anybody have a good solution for this problem?

Sorry, no. But I am confused about what you mean by you use it with the nav. Dont mean to pull this thread from the original question.

Welcome to the forums. As far as your question - in your treo - can't you set the GPS BT unit to have priority over the HFL? Some phones do allow this - but I am not sure about the treo.

I think he is talking about using the navigation function that is built into his treo phone. He is NOT referring to the acura navi that the rest of us have. At least that is what I gathered from his question.

That is correct. I use the navigation built in to my phone (the PalmOne Treo 650) rather than the nav on the Acura.

Leaving aside all the complexity with that, my question is this: "how do I tell the Acura to let go of the connection with my phone so I can use another bluetooth device with the phone?"

The idea about trying to find a connection priority capability in my phone is a good one. I'll try that, it may work.

What if you try the "next phone" feature... push the button on the steering wheel...say next phone..it should drop the connection to ur treo...well in theory at least

Tried that...if there isn't a next phone (which there isn't), it reconnects to my Treo.

A nice voice feature would be to be able to tell your car to figure it out

Heh. yeah. I'd actually love just a "Phone Disconnect" option to tell it to disconnect, though.

On my Nokia, in the Bluetooth Menu, I can disconnect the HFL connection. Try drilling down through the Treo menus if that would accompolish your goal.
