Hey AcuraZine! I was hoping some of you audio gurus could help me out with a little question I have regarding front speakers.
So I purchased a 2003 Z06 around the beginning of the year with a/d/s 346is 6.5" components (fronts only, stock rears) with an Alpine CarPlay headunit and have since blown the driver's tweeter. A month went by till I decided it bothered me to the point of going through the trouble of finally replacing so I ordered a full Alpine sound system (6.5" Type R components for the front, 5-1/4 Type S for the rear, a 12" Alpine Type R subwoofer) with a JL Audio 6-channel amp to power it all. Well after replacing the old stuff, I noticed that the highs MIGHT not sound as clear as with the old setup. Now I have a couple of things I could do and was hoping you guys could help me decide.
A) Keep it the way it is with the full Alpine setup.
B) Keep the Alpine Type R 6.5" fronts and use the massive awesome looking crossover from the a/d/s 346is.
C) Buy a new a/d/s tweeter to replace the busted one and put the a/d/s 6.5" woofers back in too (which the woofer cone feels better quality than the paper feeling Type R btw) then sell the Type R's
I would love anyone's input and suggestions, thanks!
