^ Check your nav disc... if its v3.40c, then yes. Otherwise, I don't know.

import4life, I'll send it to you now.

Import - you're not supposed to open the file, since it is a BIN file for navigation, not a file that windows knows what to do with it.

That's why you need to use the navi software in the sticky if you are trying to make any changes.

Just to sum it up for JMKIANG...

If you have the orange navigation disk 3.30, and want to add the trip computer, a/c controls, and the Acura Advance background - then click the link(s) above, download it, and follow the extremely detailed instructions JM was so nice to put together ALONG WITH a copy of the BIN files you will need.

If you have an updated navigation disk, or wish to change the background image or whatever it is you want to edit - then go back to the main forum and click the Navigation Hack sticky that is at the top of the page.

Helping people out is one thing (which is what the OP has done) - but all of you asking for him to "put a different picture in the file for you" or "make me a BIN file for version 3.xx" need to accomplish this yourselves. The instructions are there, and they are very detailed, step by step, and provide you with all of the programs and links you will need.

So.. with all that said - thanks again (even though I had to do it myself with v. 3.60)

Jason,

If you find the actual position on where to start typing the disclaimer please let me know, I have tried editing a bunch of different areas but I just don't know where to search. I've googled and searched the forums and still was not able to find the exact position to start editing the disclaimer.

@ jimsta
I'm assuming you've been to AngryDad's new forum (Vistabug or something)
http://www.vistabug.com/bb/viewforum.php?id=2
Hack #3 explains it but I haven't gone thru it yet. Is that where you were looking?

ARGGGGG

I've been trying to get this to work on my '04 with ver. 3.30F. So far It doesn't work. I tried renaming the BIN file to match the one on the original disk. That didn't work. I've gone through 4 discs with no luck.

Any thoughts on ver 3.30F?

Thanks

Thanks to OP.. Worked flawlessly.. althought I'm not sure with the AC Controls whether anyone is able to change the direction of the air flow.. I can't seem to change it from the first option which is directly in your face only. Does everyone else have this issue or is that how it's suppose to be??

^ Doesn't work with me either. Don't really use it at all so it doesn't bug me. I may try to fiddle around with the files again and see if I can fix the issue.

Any chance I can send you a pic to be edited and saved as my wallpaper instead of the Acura Advance? It's kind of plain to me.. Or how can i do it without having to recreate the BIN files?? It seems like I would have to start from step 1. Hope not tho. Thanks

I just noticed that although I dont have to wait for the OK button to appear to turn on the NAVI but I get this message that the "Navigation is Loading" which defeats the purpose I think. I get it everytime I turn the car/ radio on. Is this normal too?? Thanks

^ Well you need to let the nav disc load so its either that msg, a blank screen or your own msg. The hack is so that you don't have to press OK everytime.

To change the background, just follow the steps in the sticky. The trip computer/AC controls and the OK hack have already been applied to the BIN files... just change the BMP and you're good to go.

And if you don't like my choice in background, do it yourself! Haha

Not to hijack (you started it... )

I will take some night shots either tonight or tomorrow for ya. I've been meaning to get some for my own collection, but have been too lazy.

I had JnC clear my headlights, install 85122+'s, and put in real ZKW's. It's definately worth getting it all done if you ask me. I've got an SSM, so the cleared look works well for me. I thought about blacking everything otu since I also have the TL-S tails and sidemarkers, but this will go good with the Axis Hiro's I plan on getting next summer.

OK.. back on topic. I have everything I need, but again.... too lazy to run out to my car and grab the Navi-DVD again. I have tomorrow off of work though and will get it done then. I think for simplicity, I may just leave the standard Acura Navigation screen on there, and just add trip and AC controls while removing the OK nag.

If this works - I will throw my BIN's out there for any of you 3.60's so I can feel useful..... since i have like 10 posts in this thread that don't really amount to much... lol (and no.. I'm not taking special orders - I think Jmkiang said he would though )

Hey now, don't get cheeky! (Sorry, watching Family Guy right now).

Glad you got yours working. I think you should def change your background image. Get a nice high res picture of your SSM, drop it off with Skwatoe, let him do his magic and you can have an amazing photoshopped picture of your car to admire.

PM or email me those pictures. I don't want this filling up with that stuff. jmkiang@gmail.com Also, how much did you get the real ZKWs for? I'm looking at getting replicas because I think they are waayy to expensive. I want the CCFL too. Anyway, hook me up with some pictures.

^ alright, here's what i did:
I downloaded and extracted the email via winrar onto my desktop
I then dragged the files onto a cd-r and closed the session as I ejected the cd-r
Booted the car up while ignition turned onto acc, ejected the cd then placed the new disk into the back end - brought up the diagnostic menu and pushed version, then "DISC LOAD"...it just went to "please check your disk"...frozen

help?

WORKS!!

Thanks for the tip on burning through Roxio. I was dragging the files to the CD also. Now it work great. Maybe now I'll play around with the background and try to get rid of the AD "loadin nav" screen.

It's been so long since I really played with the nav I don't really remember what was there to start. Were the calendar and calculator functions always there?

Glad you figured it out! "AD" stands for AngryDad, I believe... the guy who did the hack. And yes, Windows burning software sucks ass. I ALWAYS use Nero.

@ SpecialFX
Yes the calendar and calculator functions were always there. Now you should have more functions to play around with and distract you while driving

All I have to say is thank you!! It worked first try! I have not been able to play with it all the way, but everything came up. I am excited about the instant MPG as it can help me refine my driving for max MPG. It may not be 100% but atleast it gives me a tool to work with!

Great work!!!

^ Agreed. I love how the bar just shoots off the screen when you're coasting. Reminds me of driving a Prius where I'd get like 100MPG while coasting. SWEET!

ATTENTION 3.30X NAVI DISC USERS!!!!!!!!!!!

download these files and burn them to a disc. follow the directions to load it in your system. this gives you the "ok button" hack, the Acura Advance boot screen, and the trip computer/AC controls

http://www4.ncsu.edu/~tjhansen/bn2hh12c.bin
http://www4.ncsu.edu/~tjhansen/bn2hhmld.bin

Great! I can't wait!!

EDIT: I didn't notice you had already uploaded it. How do you save the file? I clicked on it and it said it tried to open it in another web page and couldnt. I then tried to right click it and try to save it but the only option it gave was "save target" or something like that and it didn't work either. Can you email it to me? I was able to pull it up before when the first attempt was emailed to me by the OP.

Well, since I am also having problems with dling the BIN files, i packed them together in a .rar file that wont screw up on download. Just DL this and unpack it (rarsoft.com if you dont have winrar) and burn em to a disc, following the directions on the 1st page starting at step 2.

http://www4.ncsu.edu/~tjhansen/navihack.rar

sorry bout that!

I noticed on the drive home yesterday that all is not necessarily well. While I was finally able to get the bins loaded and the new functions show up as advertised, the trip computer doesn't actually do anything. I see the mpg bar and miles and all but nothing works as I drive. No instantaneous mpg or other info updates. Anyone else notice this? BTW I have ver 3.30F.

My car goes in for the power steering hose recall Friday so I may reload the original files so I don't attract any attention, then reload these again. Then again, my car is out of warranty now so who cares what they think? Anyone ever get flack from a dealer over a hacked navi system?

******************

As an aside: As for using windows to burn the disc - I should have known it would cause problems

I've been playing with Ubuntu Linux lately and it's pretty good for the less computer savvy. I probably won't do away with Windoze completely but I;m using Ubuntu more and more. Not lookin' to hijack, just throwing it out there.
