Finally an end to my audio problems. Opinions on old Infinity Beta Digital 300..

Here's the whole story. I went to a stereo shop a year ago to pick up a JL 1000/1 amp to go with my two 12W6s. The shop kept pushing a much cheaper ($350) Avionixx amp. I told them that SQ was more important than SPL and they promised that this amp would kill the JL amp in every category, not to mention it cost a lot less. So I take their advise and buy it.

My bass has never sounded right. It lacks in the very low frequencies and sounds distorted even at low volumes. It gets loud, very loud but that's not what I want. I've tried everything imaginable to make it sound right with no luck. Finally, my friend offered me his old never used Infinity Beta 300 amp. All I can say is wow. I can't believe I've wasted a year on such a crappy amp. The clarity is a night and day difference, the lows go so much lower, and it has a much "tighter" sound on some instruments. Basically sounds like I have the punch of 10" subs with the low end of the 12s.

Anyway, is this Infinity amp any good or is it crap? I can't find much info on it due to it's age other than it may be unreliable.

It shouldnt be bad but if you get something like an jl audio or kicker or well better known brands you gonna get cleaner power higher damping wich gives more control of the sub and so on....

i ended up changing all my stuff from the first install and the only thing that didnt make any difference were the wires only....

so cheap doesnt go

I've learned that recently. The shop pushing the cheaper amp on me must've had a larger profit margin. I'm more than happy with the Infinity. FWIW, retail on it in 2000 was $1,000.

Have you been to any of the Sac or Bay Area meets? I have a killer sys now, but am upgrading again...adding another 10'' sub and 2 4'' mids to a 3 way front stage. The whole trunk is getting redone as well...anyway, if you head to any of the nor-cal meets we can compare

back in probably 2000-2001 a friend of mine that designs sound systems for night clubs told me that he had just bought an amp from crutchfield and highly recomended that I pick one up as it was an awesome amp and was only like $350. It was in Infiniti Digital 100, and he was right. It was one of the best amps Ive ever had, huge power, incredible SQ. Id say keep it I never had any reliability issues with mine
