Factory navigation unit -- PLEASE HELP!!

Hey folks, first time posting here, but I've received a lot of good info over the years so let me start by saying thanks!!

Here is my dilemma...the factory navigation unit on my 2004 3.2 TL has died. The screen stays on showing the navigation display, but I cannot do anything. Every once in awhile it will prompt me to enter the code, but even then, the touch screen is unresponsive. Does anyone know anywhere that sells these without paying the $3600 dollars I was quoted to replace from the dealer? Also, would an 07 or 08 Acura unit work in an 04 model?

Would it make sense just to scrap the stock equipment all together and buy an aftermarket unit? Seems to me you can get a lot more bang for the buck.

Any advice is GREATLY appreciated.

Cheers,

Greg

hi greg and welcome to acurazine!

There could be a few possibilities and alternatives so don't sweat it! Did the dealer want to replace the screen or the navigation dvd drive in the trunk?

If it's the navi drive in the trunk, good news! You can send it into alpine with a check for around 185 dollars and they will fix EVERYTHING wrong with it and sometimes will give you a new navi disk!

If you don't want to do that, you can pickup a used one on ebay for a couple of hundred dollars and call it a day, but I doubt you'll do this!

Thanks a lot for your reply! Fortunately, it's the navigation dvd drive in the trunk. Do you have any information on how to contact Alpine so I can start this process? Definitely sounds like the way to go...much appreciated!!!
