Face Plate # on TL Radios

I have an 04 TL that needs its radio replaced due to the CD player dying. Mine has 1TB0 on it so do i have to replace it with that or if i find a different faceplate number on ebay that is for a 2004 - 2006 can i use it also or is the 1TB0 required to fit my car. If so... just curious why. Thanks

you will need an 04-06 TL radio! If you have a 2004, then it's best to get a 2004 one vs 2005/2006. Easiest way to see if it's an 2004 radio is to check the cassette player door; ACURA will be written in HUGE letters vs. the 05/06 ones.

The way to tell if you are looking at an 07/08 radio is the WMA/MP3 Emblems on the top right hand side of the radio. If it has these emblems, it won't fit nor work in your car!

Sorry for a noob question but will the ipod adapter be affected by the 04 vs 05+? Does the molex plug in the back differ?

Why is it better to get the '04 radio vs the 05/06? I am having a hard time finding an 04 radio. Sadly enough, the Acura dealer could not tell me if an 05 or 06 would work. The person I talked to did not even know about the number on the face plate... .

Instead of starting a new thread, what is the difference between the faceplate numbers, I am looking for replacements for mine but I have found a few that mention faceplate number. I have 1TB0 but have been finding 1TB1 and 1TB2. Does it really matter which one I get for my 2004 TL. I know I need one for 2004-2006 and not a 2007-2008

When my CD player went out, I replaced mine with the exact same number. I doubt theres anything to be gained and I heard conflicting stories as to whether you could use a radio from a different year. You can also cause the navi not to work from having the wrong radio.

Theres a thread in here from when I replaced mine with the name of the company I got it from. It was just under $300 shipped to my door.

I say this because ELS changed the audio system in the 2005 models because of complaints for sound in the rear deck. In 2004 models, the rear deck didn't play as loud as the fronts and was used as filler. People complained about this and thus ELS made the front volume equal with the rears on newer radios.

The numbers are to signify a particular "run" of radios with a certain software version, hardware version, etc.
