External Antenna for Cell Phone?
Was considering getting Moto V710 thru Verizon for use with HFL. It's great to hear that folks are getting it to pair successfully with the HFL, even though the 710 isn't listed as being supported (per Acura's compatibility listing). My travels take me from Maine coast, down to Asheville NC and west to Ohio, therefore I can't rely on 1) widespread availability of GSM digital or 2) decent strong CDMA/TDMA digital signal strength in all places. Because I didn't see any postings related to this issue, I've got some questions:
Has anyone installed an external cell antenna on/in their TL?
If so,
1. Was it worth the time, effort, and $?
2. What type & brand of antenna (i.e.-inside, exterior whip, exterior stub, etc.), & what type of mount (glass, magnetic, etc.) did you use?
3. Where in/on the car were the antenna and phone mounted?
4. What type of connection did you make from the antenna cable to the phone? (i.e.-plug into ext phone jack on back of phone, antenna sleeve, connection at bottom of phone, etc.)
5. How was the coax cable routed from the antenna to the cell phone?
6. Did you have any interactions or issues with the factory-installed FM, XM, or GPS/NAV, or any particular brand/model of radar detector?
6. If you had to do it over again, would you do anything different?
Thanks in advance.

Good question, we need a good answer. I personally don't use one because my phones have pretty good RF. Went from a Moto StarTAC 7868 (best cell phone ever made, still keeping it just in case the V710 turns out to be crap) to the V710 and the signal strength without an external antenna is consistently high.
