I don't know a lot about the ELS system and I don't own any DVD-A, so before I go out and buy some DVD-As can anyone tell me: If the ELS headunit goes into a processor like the RF 3Sixty (which will flatten out the HUs EQ setting), will it impact the channel separation? Will such a processesor take away the DVD-A quality? Has anyone compared the spacial/soundstage scenario before and after such an upgrade?

 

If you kept the rears, center and fronts (5.1) in proportion to the original setup, then you should be happy with DVD-A. If you went with stereo, then save your money.

 

DSP processing takes place in the RF3Sixty limited at best but DSP is happening,

 

thanks guys. I have replaced all the speakers in the car including upgrading the center ch and added subs and power to all. I guess since I hadn't heard DVD-A before I changed over, I didn't know if I would lose the effect that the headunit processes. The 3Sixty does have the DSP as mentioned and it does provide 5.1 so I guess the answer is "no" I will not lose the benefit of the DVD-A recording?

 

Right. The HU process the ELS 5.1 from the DVD-A. Unless you removed some channels, it will still use the 5.1. Like you can imagine, the signal to each individual channel will be processed how you set it in the 3sixty.
