Hi I was reading through some old posts trying to find good audio settings and I read that in '04 most of the sound came from the front speakers and the rear speakers were used just as "filler." And then for '05 they changed the rear speakers to be more equal with the front speakers for more balanced sound. Is this true? If so does the 2005 sound system sound better? Is it a very noticeable difference?

I got a 2004 recently and I thought I had the same highly-rated sound system as the other years (was a factor in me choosing the TL). I would be very disappointed if my sound system was not as good as the '05 and onward system. Is there any way to change it to the same settings as the '05 sound system? What if I change the sound to come more from the rear would that help? Please let me know I love my music.

Acura lists the part # for the 2004 for the tuner module as 39100-SEP-A00ZA @ list 1335.74/sell 1063.27 - and for 2005 as 39100-SEP-A01ZA @ list 1324.77/sell 1054.54, so I would assume they are different in some way. Not sure if that helps...but thats what I found. Personally I have no clue.

I don;t think that there is any difference between the two, internally. But I do know that the acura text on the cassette deck was enlarged on 2005+ TL's and it was much smaller on the 2004 TL.

All I know is I got an 04 and I don't like how the sound system sounds. It seems all the music is pushed to the center of the car, without that sound that seems like it is all around. I think it sucks actually. I don't know about the 05, but i heard the same things you wrote about.

Anyone know a way to improve the sound system? I mean , will adding new speakers even help? or is it the setup.

^ It's not the setup. Our cabins and the placement of the speakers should be one of the best that has ever been put in a car, factory.
