DeathtoToasters '05 TL Audio COMPLETE rebuild!

Well if anyone has been following my previous thread:

https://acurazine.com/forums/showpos...6&postcount=86

then

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=166803

You will hear the story the of a car that was violated and hurt.

Well as they said in one of the best TV shows of all time:

"WE CAN REBUILD HER!"

Here are pics of her broken and beaten body:

FYI - There was another amp mounted custom like the other one against the back seat. A neighbor came out of their house before they could take the second one. So keep that in mind.

Where sub # 1 was custom mounted:

Where sub #2 was custom mounted:

You can see where they cut all the amp power wires, grounding wires, the DVD nav wires on the upper right

All the red wires are RCA's that run to the passenger kick panel. All need to be replaced.

Another wide look:

and here she is while at pre-op as she is preparing for surgery:

and starting to get torn apart:

They are going to replace all RCA's and all the speaker wire.

I have complete confidence that the people here will do her justice and bring her back to me.

I loved doing my stuff myself, but there is something nice about knowing that professionals are now working on her!

I won't see her again until Friday, then I will post pics of her final rebuild!

BTW adding a pair of Focal Components up front to replace my diamond components. About time for an upgrade

Wow that sucks! You put in a lot of work in your last install.

Good luck with the rebuild man. Looking forward to seeing the final results.

Well, here are the final pics!! I have to say it is amazing!!!

I also put focal components in the front, replacing the diamond components I had. WOW the mid bass and clarity is amazing.

I would recommend Radioactive in Ontario, CA to ANYONE. Ask for Jim or John....tell them Mitch sent you!! ( no referral fee here , just a satisfied customer )

Looks really good. How many watts did you put out before compared to now?

Before was 45 x 4 plus 250 for the sub. Now is also 45 x 4 but i have focal vs. Diamonds. They produce a MUCH better sound!

The subs are 600 watts now .

The third smaller amp is for the center channel. That way I am not drawing other power away from other speakers.

Nicely done. Very clean install. It looks like it costs a fortune. I value my trunk space too much (for detailing products) to do anything like that.

Make sure the car is always in the garage now!

Hey what kind of Focals did you put in. After much debating I decided to buy diamonds a few weeks ago, just after I did I recieved so much feedback from a couple of friends and an installer of how the sound of focals are crazy.... where the hell were they before i bought speakers. Im thinking about selling my diamonds and getting focals, the polyglass ones were recommended to me. Just wondering about yours.

i dont see how they can sound that good if you are only sending 45 watts to the focals wich im pretty sure need 3 times the power to come alive.

I was looking at the pic again and I was wondering if you have one or two of those amps hooked up to the 6x9s?

Left (larger amp) is for the subs, then the mid for the doors and rear, then the other smaller one is bridged for the center channel.

if you wanted the ultimate SQ possibly achievable in car audio while reaching incredible decibal volume levels that would require the use of 2-3 PAIRS of the latest Focal TN52 tweeter just to equal in decibal loudness. get Image Dynamics Comp2 -mini horn tweeters, they cost 1000.00 a pair and you still need to buy the mid woofers since these are just the tweeters. they only need 50 true RMS watts of power supplied from a reference status type of SQ amp like a Zapco CSK 2.0 - 50wattx2ch amp with a 1400.00 MSRP. theres more to this type of SQ setup but this would be a good start. they even have a 1500.00 version of the I.D. mini Comp2 horn tweeters but they are not for retail and can only be inquired within from the authorized dealers. but the 1000.00 are just fine and dandy. i laughed when i first heard of this recommendation but it makes sense when there are only two important types of horn tweeters- one is the most expensive but only cuz its worth it I.D. comp2 or your plastic packaged swap meet type for 5.99 . anything in the middle is not even a contest for the i.d. comp2 - in other words a complete waste of money. if its true that the SQ in car audio is often referenced to the high SQ level of your $$$- top of the line, high-end home audio system setup properly in the perfect listening environment- then these are as close as it gets in the car audio world. im a firm believer now and i gladly pawned off my recently purchased Focal K2 Power component speaker sets that originally retailed for a total of $2100.00 - 1300.00 for the 130KP set and 800.00 for the 130KF.
